“Disable Scripts” Option Missing in Roblox Studio’s New Gen UI, Replaced with Unclear “TBD” Label

Issue Description

In December 2021, Roblox announced that improve trust and safety in the Creator Store (formerly Creator Marketplace):

This post explicitly states that if you want to disable scripts inside a model, you can simply right-click the model in the Explorer and choose “Disable Scripts”.

However, with the recent updates to Roblox Studio’s Next Gen UI and revamped Explorer, this functionality has become confusing and practically unusable. The option to “Disable Scripts” is completely missing from the right-click context menu for models. Creators must manually dig through the model hierarchy to locate individual scripts, which are now labeled as “TBD” in right-click menus rather than “Disable.”

This is both a usability regression and a safety issue, as disabling scripts from potentially untrusted models is critical for secure development workflows. The fact that this has been broken for several months without clear communication only increases the risk.

Reproduction Steps

  1. Open Roblox Studio using the new Next Gen UI.
  2. Insert any model from the Creator Store that includes scripts.
  3. In the Explorer, right-click the model itself.
  4. Observe that there isn’t a “Disable Scripts” option in the context menu.
  5. Manually expand the model, locate a script, and right-click it.
  6. Observe that the option available is labeled “TBD” (To Be Determined), making it unclear and inconsistent with the official announcement.

Expected Behavior

The “Disable Scripts” option should appear when right-clicking a model that contains scripts. This functionality was clearly outlined in the 2021 Developer Forum announcement about improving safety in the Creator Store, and it is essential for maintaining safe development workflows when working with third-party assets. Overall, this workflow should match the expectations set in the official announcement and reflect a strong focus on trust, safety, and user clarity, which are currently compromised in the new Roblox Studio Next Gen UI.
