17+ Experiences Can Add Support for Strong Language

I made a video about this exact post. It doesn’t take too strong of a stance, but it does go over some of the potential consequences of age-walling. Hope it sums my take up well!

Oh, This is interesting! I didn’t expect this update.

I`m pretty unsure if this is going to be a good feature or not, so I will just let time do its thing and see how things turn out.

The game was a game which is usually set to 17+, when this feature released I set it to public for testing it with my friends. Right after that it got banned.

Okay, now what you all should do is go over how you enforce Voice Chat moderation… Was just playing and having fun with other players and got suspended for literally no reason. If this is the way Roblox VC moderation is heading, then what’s the purpose of VC to begin with?

yeah, you’re right, still i’d rather have some security on roblox

You can still report people for swearing and get them banned in these 17+ experiences, I discovered that yesterday, as someone else did exactly that.

It appears the filter is still moderated like a non-17+ experience, which needs to be fixed.

Didn’t Roblox already have a chat system for Xbox back in like 2019 or something?

Big W.

A suggestion from my side is to permit strong language in all experiences, not just those rated 17+. However, distinct hashtag levels should be used to categorize content according to its suitability for various age groups.

the problem with this is that all the 8 year olds will lie about their age, and then we’ll have a bunch of little 8 year olds screaming horrible racial slurs when they die, or just people in general screaming racial slurs

I’m not sure if you know what I mean…

When I was asking if there are any plans to open chatting up into more age groups, I meant it like this:

“All Ages” Would filter words like “Damn”, “Crap”, “Frick” among others.

“13+” Would allow words such as “Damn”, “Crap”, “Frick” among others.

“17+” Would allow users to swear, but if it’s not directed at someone or a group.

With what I’m suggesting, an unverified user can lie about their age up to 13+. But with 17+ chat, you have to be 17 years or older, and be ID verified.

Also, even if you said a racial slur in a 17+ experience with “uncensored” chat, you would still likely be banned because it’s directed at someone or a group of people.

I like this idea but I feel people may not want to show roblox their ID, as they fear It could get leaked as Roblox has had breaches in the past.

100% Makes since. Not everyone is happy with sharing their ID with Roblox, which is normal. But thankfully Roblox thought of people trying to get peoples ID.

For those who do use ID verification Roblox, Roblox doesn’t keep raw data of your ID

no matter what overly invasive layer of security Roblox tries to implement, there is always going to be the chance that some kid manages to bypass it.
if you ask me, ID verification is already too much of a turnoff; and personally, i think parents should have more of a hand in monitoring their children’s internet access rather than just placing the entirety of the internet in their children’s hands, waving the checkered flag, and trusting nothing can possibly go wrong-- because that’s just be naïve parenting

Roblox doesn’t store the raw ID document nor the selfie data.

The team knocks it out of the park!

This update is ****** awesome! Thank you for taking your entire playerbase/creator ecosystem into consideration!

I believe this update might seem small to a lot of people but it’s a step into allowing users to create the experiences they truly dream of allowing age appropriate words to be communicated in age appropriate games/servers.

Boy Oh Boy! People will lie to there age now due to this update

Instead of using your driver’s license now, You need your phone number verified to use features like this now. As they got rid of it
