Firefox must have a better handle on clearing out cached data when it reaches a certain limit. Chrome must just keep going until you’re out of disk space.
Notably, it effects the Edge browser as well, probably because it uses the Chromium backend. My cache displays as 3.1 GB
At my end, it’s only using 106MB cache, it’s pretty strange that it would use 3.1GB, I’m not sure what would be causing it. But it might have to do with viewing threads since Greeny_Alien Mentioned after browsing threads it increased.
I’m always browsing on Mobile, and I use data saver from chrone which saved… 3142 MB?
I had 3.1 GB then I cleared it then clicked on random threads scrolled through them and now I have 3.3 GB in my cache storage. (Using google chrome)
Yes, this is in cache storage. Mine is 3.3GB now, shall I clear it?
EDIT: Uhh, when I went back and then clicked on devforum cookies it showed me 10 mb but when i search through link it showed me 3.2GB
Both the URL are same on comparing.
wow I could have had tons of storage to spare if this issue did not happen my browser cache storage for the devforum
my storage somehow this is not related
3.06 + 3.1 = 6.16 GB
wow I could’ve had enough storage just to update my PC since its very very low on storage if the issue is fixed I just hope it won’t happen again
DataBase Storage and Local Storage are different from Cache Storage they take up storage that its too little-nothing just a reminder
I have never seen a single website store over 2GB of cookies. The website data on my iPhone takes up about 800MB and that is cached files, cookies and other locally stored/cached files from all the websites that I have visited on my iPhone that I have had for almost a year now. I looked and roblox.com only uses about 6.4MB of space.
The website that uses the most data on my phone is google.com and it is only using about 200MB and apple.com is second and it is using 170MB and Roblox’s CDN (rbxcdn.com) is using 108MB.
I also checked my iPad and website data was only using about 800MB of space on there as well and I have had that iPad since December of 2018 but I have reset and erased the device after installing the iOS 14 beta back in July. The website data might be stored in iCloud and be synced across all my Apple devices which are 2 iPhones, 2 iPads and 3 MacBooks.
I had 3.3GB, cleared my cache, and gained no additional disk space.
This is likely purely a reporting issue. It’s not actually taking that much space.
How do you view cache and cookies on Firefox? I want to check if I have the same problem.
Nevermind, found it.
I have 39.9MB of cookies from Devforum. So it seems like it doesn’t affect me.
Just disable 3rd party cookie access, and block cookies in the top left.
Why does the size of it matter, it has no impact on your pc.
If you clear the cache and re-log into the forum, does all the space become available again or does it not change?
Where do you clear the cache? ,
Nevermind, I found it. Apparently the cookie size page can only be found when Chrome gives me the a notification to clear my cookies.
Apparently, it’s now 19.8 KB but it used to be 0B when the notification first appeared.
size does matter. if it doesnt matter then why did someone’s pc gets lagged easily of that?
I dont think you understand how cookies work.
They do not magically fill up your pc to slow it down.
Cache storage is harmless especially on an ssd, and I can guarantee their pc is just bad.
I just checked the cookies, and its 1.9 gbs in my phone woah that’s a lot
After investigating some more, it appears like this is a misreporting issue in Chrome and a couple other Chromium-based browsers. I will watch the Discourse-meta-related threads about this issue. As far as I understand, the GBs of data Chrome reports do not reflect what is actually stored on your device.
Well, what is taking up all my space then? My C: Drive is even lower than since I made this thread.
I haven’t downloaded a single thing and it should be at least 2 GB free of space. If you would see my other posts, blender is rendering slower than a garden snail for me.
