3D Stereoscope Image tutorial

I’ve created this short video showing a 3D image. I achieved this by:

  1. Creating the scene and script to modify camera CFrame:
    3D test.rbxl (672.2 KB)
  2. Taking a screenshot slightly to the left (-0.25) and slightly to the right (0.25). The RBXL file above already switches CFrame for you after a few seconds
  3. Opening up a video editing software and importing the 2 images
  4. Shrinking the left image to take up the left side of the scene, then shrinking the right image to take up the right side of the scene:
  5. Export the video
  6. Add metadata to the video so that YouTube detects it as a stereoscope video: YouTube 3D Video Metadata Tutorial - YouTube

The final result is here:

Note: Be aware that when you shrink the image, the video quality will be affected. This is why the final result appears to be low quality.

In theory, is it possible but complex. Without a 3D effect, you would need to take several images from all possible angles, and then “stitch” the images together to create a single spherical panorama image. Photoshop has a tool called “Photomerge” that can do this for you. This video explains how to convert several images into a 360 VR image: Create 360° Panoramas with your (old) DRONE in Photoshop! - YouTube

If you want a 3D effect, then you would need to repeat this to create a second panorama image, but from the other eye position
