It doesn’t matter if this is because of a lawsuit, its gone too far.
I’ve already made a previous point I won’t re-cover here, but I think its actually easier to just switch to a different game engine then deal with these recent updates.
The Animation blend fix only broke a lot of other things, and this current one will completely break thousands of other games. Something that kept me on this platform was the ease of access and the ability to easily create and play games globally. Now I’d have to spend days fixing things, just from 2 updates.
I’m sorry but if things don’t change I’m just going to start learning C++ and find a better program to work in. I can’t keep doing this.
If this is the standard, then why should I continue working when everything I work on can be changed or made useless by another update later on? Even if its a lawsuit, what’s stopping other companies from just filing ANOTHER lawsuit and making ANOTHER update like this one?
Ok, so I wasn’t hit very hard, just gotta replace a song on my game, probably another in a different one, and I’ll be set. Problem is idk how to compose any music. one of the songs i could probably replace with crab rave
Seriously?? In that case, the 2000 limit makes absolutely no sense. Maybe it’s just active users that Roblox considers “trusted in the community” or something like that? We could really use some clarification.
Sure, it’s great to upload audio for free, but literally the main point of the audio catalog is that other players are able to use uploaded audio made by players/developers.
Please please please allow for usage of audio from the group’s owner; I have a lot of my audio uploaded to my personal account rather than my group’s. I don’t have access to the audio files uploaded to my profile (which I have uploaded years ago).
I think I’ve said everything I need to say, so I’m going to stop looking at the topic until something happens because it’s stressing me out more than it should be.
To Roblox, I sincerely hope you reconsider these poorly-conceived changes and work with your community to find an appropriate solution. I also highly encourage you to stand your ground in court.
To my fellow developers, it’s been a pleasure protesting with you. I’ll see you when something happens, or probably never again, if nothing changes. We’ll find out on the 22nd.
Best of luck to all of you with this update and your futures, whether it be on this platform or not.
Another dumb Roblox update that will go down as one of the worst ever update in Roblox history we are litterly losing all sounds in our game because all the sound used in games are free models. This update sucks. 100%
Too much to say because I agree so much, so I’ll leave a dumbed down response:
Rhythm games, visualizer functions, Beatmappers, Boomboxes, pleasing aesthetics, horror games (Roblox sucks are making good sounds for stuff like that, change my mind.), sound effects, etc…
We might as well play roblox like it’s at volume 0 at the point or swap platforms entirely to something new, they always ruin it for developers without considering the effects it has on the majority.
The music industry is genuinely disgusting. Imagine being some poor little kid uploading his favorite audio to use on radio gamepasses and being cited in a legal document as some supervillain tier wanted criminal. Genuinely disgusting that the music industry is ruining everything for everybody because they thought they were losing 0.0000000000000000000000000000000001% of their profits. Some comically evil mustache-twirling cartoon stuff. I can’t understate how awful this is.
One idea I had, and I am just throwing this out here, would be instead of limiting it by amount, limit it by audio length. So like there could be a total of x amount of seconds of audio you can upload per month. This would allow users to upload more short sound effects and less longer sounds which seems like a good balance to me (depending on the game).
If they absolutely had to remove our favorite classic sounds in Roblox because of a lawsuit or two, they might as well rename the company to remind people that Roblox isn’t Roblox anymore. That way they could add more investor-targeting features like forcing Rthro (except it probably will also be renamed).
I can’t even imagine how downhill it would go if this update is carried out.
Please, please keep the current Roblox that’s easy to use and fun for players and developers alike.
Forcing assets private in this short of time is not going to solve anything.
Free audio upload may be a good update, but making them private and not usable anymore to games is by far the 4th worst update after the sound censorship of 2018, forum removal of 2017 and TIX removal of 2016 respectively. I understand there are lawsuits regarding music, but the music industry should make an exception for this platform though and stop lawsuitting for its usage.
