Sad, i hate this. Please reconsider
Huh. Alrighty then. Thanks for the info on that. Overall still an upsetting situation though regarding the limit.
one suggestion could be if we could use the audio only in studio and test its performance in game before really upload it, that could avoid consumes the limits with audios that you think it is good but actually goes bad when whithing game atmosphere.
Here is a solution: A new privacy option: Friends
I literally make my own audios. And as we have seen, it’s not me that would get sued - it would be Roblox. See what happened to pokemon brick bronze, the entire reason why this new update exists, etc etc.
Watch me.
Just stick to unity until the day comes or an announcement is made that they’re having a change of plans, no point holding out for something that’s unlikely to happen.
Still trash considering all the background music I use in levels that were uploaded by other users. Honestly this update overall aside from the free music upload part is just awful.
Agreed, and the only good music they provide is monster cat, but it’s very limited and no where close to the library on monster cats website
Not to mention that it’s worse for content creators since you need Monstercat Gold to have the audio in your videos legally.
it seems like you guys at ROBLOX are just as silent as our games will be
The moment I read this I automatically went “oh yeah no they’re just gonna conveniently forget that they ever said that.” I don’t see them ever making longer audios public again with how big of a liability that is.
Off topic, but that reminds me of something. Roblox practically removed all methods of getting to the Regular level here on the DevForum, and have never told us anything about it for like, 2-3 years now?
It might be in the works but I doubt it.
I can very much see that happening, especially if this abused as much as I expect it to be.
I said this earlier, but it’s very much relevant. I absolutely expect someone to create a tool for this kind of thing and release it to the public, especially since audios are now free without any real barrier to them.
In response to roblox limiting audios to 10 a month and only allowing 6 seconds or less audio to be public. the community should create a plugin where developers can upload whatever audio they want and not have to use roblox’s crappy audios. with a audio plugin developers will have a full audio library where they have the freedom for unlimited uploads or a 10 minute upload music limit this will help a lot of games if someone makes a plugin for it.
As cool as this would be, this would be ludicrously hard to do or even impossible due to the way roblox deals with audio playback. I haven’t exactly delved into the roblox engine to know exactly how it works, but I really doubt that this kind of expansive plugin is even possible.
Question: Will audio that is free to use (i.e. Not offsale) go private or not?
Don’t think of it as an update, think of it as a legal requirement.
For me it is an excellent update In my opinion
They will go private. All audio assets (not created by roblox) above 6 seconds in length go private on the 22nd, regardless of whether or not the uploader as allowed copying, or any other factors.
Sound effects and music are SUCH an important part of any game that this update is going to kill many small developer’s ability to create quality content. Not everyone have the funds to hire professional people to make good SFX.
Wasn’t Roblox supposed to be a plateform where small developers could share what they do to create more new content?
A better alternative would simply be to allow people to privatise the audios that they want to privatise, instead of making every single audio that are >6s automatically set to private. If this is for copyrights, then let it be up to the person who actually uploads the audio. Because as you said :
