They will go private. All audio assets (not created by roblox) above 6 seconds in length go private on the 22nd, regardless of whether or not the uploader as allowed copying, or any other factors.
Sound effects and music are SUCH an important part of any game that this update is going to kill many small developerâs ability to create quality content. Not everyone have the funds to hire professional people to make good SFX.
Wasnât Roblox supposed to be a plateform where small developers could share what they do to create more new content?
A better alternative would simply be to allow people to privatise the audios that they want to privatise, instead of making every single audio that are >6s automatically set to private. If this is for copyrights, then let it be up to the person who actually uploads the audio. Because as you said :
Agreed, pretty much of all my music audio have to be replaced. With 10 uploads a month, and almost a hundred audio soundtracks in my game, this is gonna take forever.
Exactly, putting public audio back on is just going to put them in the same situation they were in before. Robloxâs in a tough spot but god, there are so many better ways they could have handled this.
A lot of it feels like itâs just trying to distract from the private audios aspect. I think they were banking on developers reading âOh cool, audios are free now!â without recognizing every issue surrounding that. Nothing was thought out and I seriously assume that was a last minute suggestion to make people see one good thing and assume thatâs the whole update.
Solutions to bypass robloxâs 10 audio limit monthly
1. Create 10 alt accounts and put them in your group then you will get 100 free uploads a month. Want more? then you can create more alt accounts for more uploads. it may be dumb but it works!
Solutions to bypass robloxâs 6 second limit and upcoming private audio update
1. Either get a audio recorder online and download it on your pc, open youtube and then search for a video you want to record sound for
2. Download all sounds you need from the roblox sound library and upload them as your own before they all get deleted
3. Make a Plugin alternative to robloxâs old sound library
If I were in the situation where I had only 10 uploads I would at least want the ability to pay after Iâve used up all of it. Ten is a ridiculously small amount and itâs unfair to new developers who arenât verified.
I read through a lot here, so I wanted to say is that this is the end of an era for Roblox. All those old audios (some which got copyrighted, and even more) will be inaccessible which is disheartening because I enjoyed those old assets. In my opinion, Roblox is become more like other businesses in a negative way, because we could use some style in a world like this. And also:
Which means that Roblox will destroy the reason I joined Roblox in the first place, and thatâs terrible. I understand back when Roblox was made public, it didnât realize how popular it would become or that corporations would be so controlling in todayâs world. I donât know, Iâm very concerned for the future of businesses on the internet, and outside if this is how itâs going to be.
Thatâs not true, in my game most of the sound effects are a little over 6 seconds (I cant cut the time because it will sound really bad)
Not funny. I have a lot of audio which are not provided by me nor ROBLOX. Why make private all audios you will basically waste developersâ time by making it private unless ROBLOX uploads nonsense updates but Iâm fine making the audios free. Thank you ROBLOX
Youâre on roblox, why do you hate it so much?
They say that hating something is almost the same as loving something, in a case like this everyone just wants the right thing to be done, or at the very least they donât want whatâs happening now.
Iâm excited for this changes. I thought it was a bad changes at first and think about it again and realize and I understand why roblox did this. yeah⌠I kinda love this update
RIP to all of those remaining old games that people still play, music and even long ambient sounds will be obliterated, audio being a core identity to them.
And little we can do to change a corporal business decision, may Roblox have mercy on the people that rely on having ambience and music from this good library now made history, sadly now trapped behind the 10 upload limitation unless they give personal information to corporate entity, yes.
This is a clear example of a great plan but poorly executed.
The more I look at it, I realise its not as bad as I originally thought it was. Sure, music in old games will go silent, but the 6-second window does help old games [and ours] with sfx. Music that I uploaded recently still takes about 3 days to even get approved, thatâs insane, but expected.
[SERIOUS] Will there be refunds issued to people with already existing ROBLOX audios?
Those audio assets arenât necessarily going to be deleted but rather indefinitely unplayable in experiences not owned by the audio creators.
It really isnât a good thing, again, about 80% of the sound catalogue that generally doesnât infringe copyright (so SFX, not music) go past that 6 second limit, if it was 11 seconds or 14 then thatâd be much better, but it still is a very frustrating change.
The issue is that we have free audio, and we paid for the previous audio weâve created. Not the fact it will become unusable.
True, a larger limit would be good, you have a point. I still dislike it, but not as much with the free audio in place, allowing me to upload sounds I make or modify.
