This change is a nightmare
I understand what they’re trying to do but this is not the way to go about it. Players can already archive things and re-upload if they don’t want other people to use their audios/assets or whatever. Just make a way to easily change if something is archived or not. This is going to break games so quickly.

So, with this update, imagine a roblox game like this:
Imagine you are fightning with the final boss, but since you no longer can upload that music, you hear some happy birthday music you hear from a party, and your brain is like WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THE MUSIC? (as a personal opinion, the roblox music they make is literally the worst, Roblox makes a sound called “Scary” and it sounds like a birthday party.)

I completely do get your point, don’t get me wrong, but you will find in most of these Top games with Bosses and such most likely already have a Sound team, or in the hunt of finding such skilled people, that will of course edit already done work, or make new for said Update to roblox, my point here Lunny is, roblox isn’t going to Back track but go forward with this, so i’m trying to say, we will have to adapt to this new Update, is my point to be fair, not hostile or anything as such, i’m just saying we gonna have to move forward and live with this Update now, do you get me?
Is there a way to check if an audio is available to be played via the catalog search API? eg: A property such as IsForSale would be false for Audios that are private, but true for public audios. (Currently IsForSale is false for all catalog audios)
Audios past 6 seconds are set to private? How does this help anyone there’s no point in doing this
My main issue with this update is.
There is MANY MUCH BETTER WAYS TO DO THIS, I seen two good ideas on how yetersday!
Roblox is doing something which will hurt it more than it helps.
That’s so true, they are just talking about creator rights and other privacy tales but the truth is that they are becoming the dog of these music industries (apm, monstercat…).
They will give you hundreds of musics or remix when you’ll just search a gunshot sound effect, it will become impossible to develop more games with this update.
If creators don’t want their sounds to be used, they just have to archive them.
They mean thanks for not claiming to Roblox billions of dollars for stupid copyright things.
I have been saying this for a while but… nobody can adapt to a 10/month sound limit. Some people who got that same limit feels pressured to leave. It is simply non adaptable. It restricts the people who do not want to share their identity with Roblox / do not have enough age disastrously. Why would ID verification even matter for this purpose?

Quitting Roblox will be much easier if they apply this downdate, i think developers will not even try to adapt to this, they will simply find another platform to develop games. Also players will be tired of listening Monstercat or apm in every games, think more about that.
This is good update for professional composer but unlike me, I’m not good at creating sounds so i use the roblox library. I know i can just download audios but at most of the time, my anti-virus thing is stopping me from downloading it, so sometimes can’t download audio. I have a breathing sound effects on my game that are larger than 6 seconds but i won’t be able to use it anymore?? I guess? So i have multiple problems using this feature, i mean i love it but privating it is not for me.

So you’re gonna make every audio over six seconds private and make it random if you can get 10 audio uploads or 2000? Some serious trash if you’re gonna make it so you can’t pay for more sounds.
Also if I make like a sound effect and try to upload it how am I gonna prove I made the sound effect? Like if I shake some dirt around in a box to make a dirt sound effect how am I meant to prove I recorded that? Terrible.
This is what is about to happen if roblox still do these weird changes
“No ThErE iS oVeR 100,000 mUsIc On ThE cAtAlOg FoR fReE OmL!!!” yeah, im pretty sure most players didnt even know what kind of music that is, because they prob stick to the developer’s music, and not to the roblox default music, as a example, games like the tower of hell will pretty much stay without any sound which is not a good change.
there is no reason to continue developing when one of the key assets are taken away from you
To give them the ever-so-SLIGHTEST benefit of the doubt, they don’t have any reason to forcibly private all meshes/decals the way they’re privating audio, so it may be optional for those.
Yeah, i was thinking that, if decals, models, and evertything like these, 90% if not 98%% of the games will stop working and they will lose a huge amount of money.
You just completely ignored the fact that you can’t use other Roblox user’s audio and just saw that you can make audios for free. Did you even properly read the post?
Not to mention that most users are only getting ten free uploads a month — this could be anything from music to brief sound effects.
