[Action Needed] Upcoming Changes to Asset Privacy for Audio

I think they were pretty much being sarcastic.

It actually is not entirely their fault. This is the result of a lawsuit from music producers about boomboxes and radios being used by players for copyrighted audios.

I think they should have audios split into different categories: effects and music. If an audio is over a certain amount of seconds, it counts as music. If it is less than that, it counts as sound effects. They should have different upload limits between these additions.

They need to at least make some proper explanation of how we can increase the audio upload limit

I dont have devex, or premium, or a verified age

Yet I’m able to do 2000 uploads a month???

I’m not on board with the whole, this isn’t roblox’s fault. As @Steponsky stated:

It is roblox fault, they just selected the worst way of how to handle it.

I’ve made quite a few post on how I feel about this. But I’ll throw it all into 1 post.

To start off
I think ROBLOX is doing this for legal manners. Not really a reason for HOW they’re doing it. They could’ve executed this in a much better way. But they chose the literal worst way. For instance, the free audios, yeah it’s not bad but it comes with a downside for most people. Most people can only upload 10 per month, like seriously? Just 10? Imagine if someone has over 200 audios. Or they have a bunch of audios ready for a game they’re making. That would take a year. And for new developers, it’ll become much harder for them. Usually if you’re a new developer you’re probably not gonna have resources to make audios. You’d probably just use the catalog like most new developers do. Yeah we could use the free audios ROBLOX & their partners gave us. But nobody is gonna wanna hear all of those songs over and over. And they barely gave us anytime to set and adapt for this new update, and re-upload all of the audios we have in our inventory.

How this could’ve been better
This could’ve gone much better if they added a feature to private audios. But ROBLOX doesn’t listen to their users ever so we’re probably not gonna get what we want. Unless they decide to revert the ‘update’. They could’ve also gave us a bigger heads up for the people with A-LOT of audios.

My thoughts
This is just terrible, this will ruin a-lot of games. Revert immediately!

Do not forget people who found rare non copyrighted musics or bought a license to upload it on Roblox, it is going to get smoked by this stupid update, if you want to listen apm or monstercat you can do it outside Roblox, horror games will become dance parties, but you don’t care about that because it will be LEGALLY USED.

I spent like 2000 robux to upload royalty free songs for use in my game. Yeah, thanks for that.

I think that giving us “No Audio Upload Fees” is nice, but I don’t think making most of the library private is the best idea. A lot of developers rely heavily on the audios that people have uploaded and can most likely damage a majority of developers.

I think one way to make this update benefit more developers is that the library should keep the already publicly available audios and then add a whitelist section inside of the audios edit page that allows you to whitelist a user/group. So that when an audio goes private, anyone that is whitelisted can use them. Maybe it could help many developers and keep the original owner’s audio safe from the public.

They only listen millionaires who made them millionaires, the other 99.9% is just some players without any power or money so they don’t care about our opinion for the moment.

It is not. It is much much better to pay a fee than only being able to upload 10 audios / month. I believe this singlehandedly is what is making much of the developers leave, even those with the capacity of creating these sounds.

Im saying this seriously.
This update can really help little developers without money at least to get audios in their games, wich will make their games better.

What will people like me do with there main game in a group and the test game linked to my account?

Little developers will only get 10 audios per month. And now all of the audio’s public will become private. How will this help?

We could do that before this update too is the thing.

Honestly, I think the best route for you would be to copy and paste everything for the test game and put it in your group. Sounds like roblox won’t revert this update, meaning that you should probably do everything under one owner from now on so that there aren’t any other problems.

With the possiblity of getting moderated trying to reupload audio for a game, I dont really agree.

10 audios per month is really low for game development and it doesn’t help that many of the ones people uploaded arent gonna be usable for a period of time because Roblox apparently cant release the option to make audios public.
