[Action Needed] Upcoming Changes to Asset Privacy for Audio

Did it get copyrighted…? Like as of now? Sounds shouldn’t display an X if you own it?

Unless your pretty sure you didn’t upload a sound to your account and not a group and now using that sound in a group game…? or the other way around

I think the year you’re trying to refer to is 1984.

Chill buddy, first of all this is great for asset protection, maybe you shouldn’t be using other peoples assets in the first place, second of all, this only applies to preexisting clips of 6 seconds or longer, third people can set it to public. Perhaps you didn’t think about the upsides and downsides before replying.

the audio itself didn’t get a copyright take down but there’s no other reason it could get denied. the sound is uploaded to my current account for a game that’s on my current account.

not sure if I missed this but are you able to reply to me saying where it said people can set it to public?

This topic is like every year gets worse by post numbers if you get what I mean.

The problem is, Everything is Private by default.

This will ruin anything made by inactive or disabled users.

You can’t set it to public yet. That’s why people are complaining. They are rolling this update out in 11 days and all existing audio’s over 6 seconds are going private while currently not being able to become public.

You can use anything in toolbox without permission, maybe you should learn more about it.

Well, Roblox is starting to become like EA, so… I don’t think there would be much of a difference :joy:

Knew someone would know more than me, hope that helps the OP I was replying to!
Did try clearing the header data in windows media player, maybe removed too much.

They’re being sued. That’s why this is happening.

Our point is, Roblox should not be force updating audio assets to be private and according to the change, the ability to make them public again will be indefinitely unavailable. Many audio creators have actually granted everyone the right to take their sounds, so it really should just be a matter of optionality meaning it should be up to the audio creators whether they want their sounds to be used by other people or not.

Accidentally replied to that post, sorry. Can’t edit my original post to include apologies. I just need to know how long my game is going to go silent for. The one I’m mentioning is my only substantial Roblox project, and this update is effectively killing it within the span of one announcement.

I wouldn’t say the stocks are tanking solely because of this update, but I will say that’s probably a contributing factor.

It is, Unity Is very powerful for things like that

Also one thing can you guys please adjust DevEx rates in the United States because the inflation rate is now 7.8% from 1.4% in 2020. And I just paid 5.09 dollars for a McDonalds Sausage McMuffin with Egg and gas prices are going up by 75¢+ due to Joe Biden’s Sanction against Russian Oil, Gas and Coal and it’s like $5.37 a gallon in my area.

it should be atleast 15 audios per month for unverified accounts (my opinion)

Ok “Buddy”, one of the major aspects to game development as a whole is collaboration. Many game developers use outside resources and sounds. Even when building an engine from scratch, people use outside “assets” like OpenGl etc etc…

Which includes music and sound fx longer than 6 seconds. Many Roblox sounds are longer than this, I don’t see how this is relevant. We all read the same post.

Dead accounts cannot set their assets to public. Some people wont bother.

Perhaps you didn’t think at all before replying? Have you ever been on a development team? These changes disrupted my game’s development completely, we have to take a few extra weeks to fix this audio (Roblox gave a 2 week warning, thanks). Also hair accessories are completely broken for R6. Roblox breaks things with every update they come out with. They dont plan for the future, and devs suffer. Awesome.

Anyone who doesn’t need the specific resources Roblox offers should switch engines.

It is really absolutely mindblowing that Roblox would think or even fathom that players would be fine with public audio, which no offense sounds horrible, and most people on Roblox obviously won’t like listening to literal elevator music.

I cannot absolutely imagine how cheated and angry the player base would feel once the effects of this update are really dealt.
