Also one thing can you guys please adjust DevEx rates in the United States because the inflation rate is now 7.8% from 1.4% in 2020. And I just paid 5.09 dollars for a McDonalds Sausage McMuffin with Egg and gas prices are going up by 75¢+ due to Joe Biden’s Sanction against Russian Oil, Gas and Coal and it’s like $5.37 a gallon in my area.
it should be atleast 15 audios per month for unverified accounts (my opinion)
Ok “Buddy”, one of the major aspects to game development as a whole is collaboration. Many game developers use outside resources and sounds. Even when building an engine from scratch, people use outside “assets” like OpenGl etc etc…
Which includes music and sound fx longer than 6 seconds. Many Roblox sounds are longer than this, I don’t see how this is relevant. We all read the same post.
Dead accounts cannot set their assets to public. Some people wont bother.
Perhaps you didn’t think at all before replying? Have you ever been on a development team? These changes disrupted my game’s development completely, we have to take a few extra weeks to fix this audio (Roblox gave a 2 week warning, thanks). Also hair accessories are completely broken for R6. Roblox breaks things with every update they come out with. They dont plan for the future, and devs suffer. Awesome.
Anyone who doesn’t need the specific resources Roblox offers should switch engines.
It is really absolutely mindblowing that Roblox would think or even fathom that players would be fine with public audio, which no offense sounds horrible, and most people on Roblox obviously won’t like listening to literal elevator music.
I cannot absolutely imagine how cheated and angry the player base would feel once the effects of this update are really dealt.
yee, I g it just doesn’t affect me as much, but I still don’t see why this level of complaint is necessary, most audio clips are under 6 seconds. You can download the ones that aren’t, and upload them for free now.
True, but still think it’s a good change. Would be better if it was instead a option to set it to private.
Overall I just feel before SFX was such a trash place to work because of asset theft, now it’s much nicer.
There was also something about sharing up above.
“Removing the barriers”? You are gonna destroy your whole platform you idiots. You are destroying every audio asset, and expecting us to call this “Removing the barriers”. It’s so sad the community can’t do anything about this, and we did nothing wrong. Why would you remove the one thing that’s cool about Roblox, which is sharing. You share games, audio, decals, meshs, animations, or anything else. Soon, you will just remove the games, chat, friends, Robux, groups, and profiles because copyrighted stuff exists, so you’re gonna just take everything with you. Then you will even delete Roblox itself. We might as well just build on unity people. Roblox has too many limits - The egg god

I get this, but the problem is people who don’t give their ID only get 10 audio uploads per month, meaning we have to be really careful when uploading non copyrighted audio. This is negatively impacting small developers who don’t want to give up information to roblox.
I mean, we did steal multiple copyrighted music. So it was our fault, but they couldve done a way better choice.
This idea is horrible. Thousands of games will become silent and will never be fixed.
I have a feeling that in a couple months after the audio update the images will all be private and next would be the toolbox knowing Roblox and there dumb updates
This is a good point. I burned up one of my upload lots bc it got flagged and it still took away an upload count. And 10 isn’t enough for most any game really. Especially since 6 seconds isn’t long enough for a lot of non-song sound effects. In my game maybe 50% of the sfx were over the 6 second length. (waterfall, motor sounds, wind noise etc.)
I love my fellow developers it’s nice to see this go down, from the awesome developer community on Roblox! They really need to understand what they are doing, they are ruining millions of games on Roblox with this change alone. I remember when we had something like this before with Experimental games on Roblox, but at least they understood our suggestions and forced the change with a good outcome to make sure the older games work out!
Uploading Id is not easy to do. Most people don’t want to anyway.
Look on the bright side, if Experimental Games got a good ending. Maybe this update could do the same!
POV: You don’t know how development on a website like Roblox works, and you ignored the post about the update.
Also mindblowing that devs think they can upload copyrighted music that they have no right to upload and ruin the audio library for everyone else who is using it legit.
- Free Audios limited to only 10-100(If able to verify and trust Roblox’s security to not be breached) and 100k new created Audios uploaded by Roblox that 99% likely to not fit to your project.
- Unlimited number of uploads costing 20-200 and free access to using immersive music and quality sound effects uploaded by users. - Disclaimer, I’m not implying high quality audios will be gone forever, just that the ones that aren’t going to be reuploaded will be forever gone until uploaded by another.
- Optional to make audios private and instead of making all audios over 6 seconds inevitably private, make a fee to keep audios playable by the public and maybe perhaps a “Purchase to Use”, to keep your audios free for everyone you have to pay a certain fee every month, otherwise it will be taken to private. This means you can have the option to pay a fee every month to keep audios free for use to everyone, but also option to sell usage of your audios(Idk how this one will be done as it will conflict with audios that previously were free, but that can also be said the same about gamepasses and etc.) - Anyway, this is an small solution to a big issue, now to the ridding of current bypassed audios, as you need to pay to keep an audio free for use, from March 22, people will have a month whether to decide to keep their free audios open or not. The cost starts from 10/month and goes up 10 for every minute in the audio. Cheap right? 10 Months would be 100 for every audio if under a minute. I’m aware this is expensive for many, even for me when adding up. But look at the market potential. Oh right and I forgot to mention, when you want to sell an audio, it has to be reviewed by a Roblox Staff. - Another thing, if you sold an Audio to people and make it private, only those who bought the Audio will be able to use it until it is otherwise free use again.

So having to replace 100 audios but only having 10 uploads a month is a good update?
Just because it doesn’t affect you much doesn’t mean it’s a good update. I have multiple sound effects that are 7 seconds long and will now have to be replaced. And I only have 2 weeks and 10 audio uploads to do it with.
also mindblowing how hard ur shilling for this update right now
