[Action Needed] Upcoming Changes to Asset Privacy for Audio

This is update is ridiculous.

I now have to sort through all pianos in Roblox Talent Show to update the audios for them because we don’t own the sounds. There are over 25 audios, and now I can only upload 10 a month? This is ridiculous!

I’m not good at reading but, does this mean I need to take out any type of audio in my game?

Yes, there is. Right click the play icon on the audio’s page. Press inspect element. On the DOM Explorer where all the code is, there’s a link. Take that link, and put it into the browser url area. Enter it. There are different domains for this.

One will auto download.

If this file does not have a file extension (assuming you can see them from your file settings), you’ll have to add one of three extensions.

  • .mp3
  • .ogg
  • .oga

Roblox has different audio formats over the years, but yeah that would work.

One will load a page.

You’ll either see a white box on a black screen, or a audio player on a black screen. Right click the black area, and save as file. You’ll get the audio file on your computer.

With the audio takedowns / privating, I hope this aids you when trying to save your audios. Good luck!

My friend @BoojieQ uploaded around 100 sound effects over 5 hours ago in an attempt to try and preserve at least a handful of our projects.

Despite the time that has passed, not a single sound has been approved whatsoever, and so I am unable to start replacing things.

If these are the types of conditions we are expected to work with moving forward, Roblox has completely lost their minds.

I am disgusted
roblox executives, your company has a 22 billion dollar net worth, you can’t have this many holes in your plan
you had almost a YEAR to plan this because thats how old the lawsuit filed against you is
I hate this.

There is virtually no excuse to making this update, as it’s unnecessary and not agreed upon by any of the community.

Unity is good too! It has a lot of good features and it can be easy to learn!

exactly, they really don’t care about any of their developers like they had an entire year but only now did they chose to do it they were probably busy trying to remove rubensim off of their platform

This wont prevent anything, audio bypasses will still go on.

They are taking the easy route (by deleting all audios instead of getting a better copyright bot), Most of us would do the same. But it’s the companies that stand up and do something hard that deserve praise

You can download any sound from roblox but it’s violating the TOS

However if the sound is owned by you and you originally uploaded the song I’m sure it’s sorta allowed.

Id say download it and re-upload it.

It’s been 8 hours and my audio is still accepting XD

CONS

This will literally destroy all games, especially mainstream games that get no updates. There will be many front-page games that are silent, games like piggy, as these games use audios from YouTube or any other third-party platform.

Radios won’t have a function, as people like playing their personal favorites from third party platforms like YouTube or SoundCloud in many games on the front page, this would also cut some developer’s pay off, as radios are sometimes put on the game as game-passes.

Games based off of radios/boomboxes will start losing popularity, as the game is based off of music from the catalog, which is uploaded by other users. Unless the game has something unique about it, these games will crash.

If you’re REALLY only able to use audios uploaded/made by yourself, then people that don’t have resources to someone who can make audio, or an audio software, are really stuck with nothing but non-Copyright roblox audio. This will limit what you can use in your games. For example, FPS games.

Most FPS games uses audio from third party websites, as the user(s) don’t have access to people who can make audio, or an audio software. A lot of Main-Stream FPS games will lose popularity because of how silent it is.

PROS

This new audio update will allow the first 100 audios to be free, and maybe more for users with special perks. This will really expand the variety of audios made, as a lot of people don’t have the money to pay for audios.

It’ll also limit trolls as there’s a lot of trolling in the game. There are people that blast loud and inappropriate audios that underage children can hear, which isn’t a good ideal outlook for the game.

Copyright would be limited more, as there’s free audio uploaded by ROBLOX that could be used in many ways. There’s many audio choices that’s fit for simulators, obby’s, etc.

@BitFist @Roblox any plans to fix the mess this update will create??

just buy the licenses for music, that **** you are forcing us to use is not “music” any human being would listen to & ur stock is tanking hard & I am pretty sure investors aren’t happy right now

or at least close the thread so we stop typing to ourselves here - because you for sure aren’t “collecting” any feedback from us

big plans with the metaverse yet we can’t even have decent audio in it

I don’t think I need to say my opinion since everybody knows that this is proabably one of the worst updates ever by now, I understand that being a multi-billion dollar company you cannot afford to get sued left and right by music publishers. This is something that was going to happen no matter what one day and here we are. Hope this doesen’t end up being as bad as it sounds like

I really don’t see how this is that much of a pro, it might even be a con
what if someone needs to upload more than 100 audios in less than a month? would they just have to wait? and you can’t pay with robux to upload more, and not everyone wants to devex their robux for money
