Nah. Love2d uses lua and someone could implement luau given it’s open-source.
Hey, can we not make all existing audio private? That, in my personal opinion, is a really, really dumb decision. This just looks like a really dumb way of making it hard to spread copyrighted material. Is every single game on the platform expected to find and make replacements for all of their audio in less than a month? That’s insane! Furthermore, how would group games work? Would you only be able to use audio made by the owner of the group? This just seems very, very bad for developers, and only helpful for greedy music labels.
Why …? I don’t really see the use of this or how this could benefit literally anyone…
There’s also gonna be a shit ton of bypassed audios getting uploaded constantly.
Alt accounts can upload too.
is bypassing the copyright bot bannable?
Points 1 and 2 are my biggest concerns right now, I just checked my game and nearly 50 audio tracks were marked red. It’s going to be a massive pain trying to find new audio to replace them with, despite the fact that Roblox will be providing us with a new catalog.
I’m only praying for enough variety of sounds to replace some of the more unconventional audio tracks that I commonly repurpose for other stuff.
I love the idea of removing the upload fee for audio assets, although I feel like some people are going to abuse this feature.
I’m having one issue here though: the current state of moderation when it comes to audio assets. About 20 minutes ago, I tried to upload an audio track to Roblox. The file name, asset title and audio file content were clean, nothing inappropriate. Yet, Roblox denied it on 3 occassions.
I reported this issue to one of my friends, and they seem to run into the same issue, with an even stranger situation, Sound Effects!
What’s going on here, Roblox?
I am very happy about this update!
I’ve wanted to make audio but I don’t have the money for the upload.
But I can’t use “Door opening sounds” becaues they will privated. As @Aeplexi said people are going to upload bypass audio. Well I’m happy that the fee is gone. Now I just need to know how to make audio.
Quick question.
If I have audio in my inventory that is not upload by me does that mean that I can’t use that audio anymore?
I don’t really agree with this update
I prefer what they did before which allows anyone to use audio when uploaded
Why not just add an option to make audio private instead of making every audio private?
Games like Club Dj will be broken after this update
Literally. At least they don’t cram this crap in our face with a 2 week window, tell us to fix everything we’ve made for 10+ years, and then claim it’s in good faith.
This is just soulless. I hate this company.
I like the addition of free audio uploads, I’m all in for free stuff, but preventing people from using audios that others have uploaded is ridiculous. Can we just remind ourselves that archiving an audio exists, as well as the fact that most people that upload audios did not create them and therefore shouldn’t really have a say in who does and does not get to use it? Not to mention games such as Sound Space and (possibly) RoBeats will be now unplayable? Rhythm games will be much harder to work with.
I appreciate that audio is free to upload now with monthly limits, and also that there’s a massive catalog for both well-made songs and SFX (which I’ve always wanted). It’s honestly a smart change, and this is something I support.
What I DO NOT support with this change, however, is the fact that (from my understanding) any audio set as private cannot be used in games not owned by the audio uploader. This is wouldn’t be a problem, but considering every audio longer than 6 seconds is automatically being set to private, this is probably the worst idea possible that you could come up with in this scenario.
Many games rely on audio uploaded by other users who may not be aware of this update to audios, and might not even be active anymore. Hell, even the developers of certain games might be inactive and won’t be able to change their audios to fit the new update.
This could be extremely damaging for a lot of games, since there are many, many games that use hundreds or even thousands of audio assets not uploaded by the game’s developers, and the relatively low monthly upload limit definitely will not aid with reuploading every single audio asset to the developer’s account.
I have extremely stressful commitments coming up in the next two weeks (on the scale of interviews) and I do not have time to muck with audio in my game. Why is this timeline so outrageously short??
Yeah but no one wants to play your licensed music. Users have always enjoyed the freedom of being able to play any popular music they want in any game that offered a boombox. They will not enjoy being limited to a certain selection of uninteresting audios.
Think that one through. Is bypassing moderation and breaking the law bannable?
What the HELL!? I get that you want to expand audio creation to more people, but this is NOT the best way to go about this. Audio uploaded by users who are either banned or inactive will be unable to be used EVER.
i feel the privacy changes will break a lot of stuff and should really be avoided and what about the audio visualizers?
Background structure:
- we have a group that hosts our production version of the game
- we have a development version of the game hosted on the user profiles of our developers
- All (95%) of our assets have been uploaded to the group that hosts the production version of the game
Currently animations work in our development version of the game since the uers(s) who own those games have asset managment / publishing permissions to the group
My assumption was that sound permissions should work the same but that doesn’t seem to be the case according to the plugin. When I open the development place (file or off the website) all the audio uploaded to the group that is 6 seconds or longer is flagged. When I open our production place off the website none of our audio is flagged.
Does this mean once this update goes live a large chunk of audio in our development build is just going to stop working? Or is this just an oversight with the plugin?
Oops, my bad. I accidentally uploaded audio on my account and now I have to reupload everything to the group the game is hosted on
Yes, they are! Even the games that don’t get updated because their developers have disappeared from the platform! Developer-first mentality, right? All our fault! We have to adapt!
