Same thing happening with my friend. He’s been working on a game for 3 years, revamped it a few times, and has a lot of audio but with this new update it effectively makes him want to cancel the project. Keep powering imagination, roblox.
I don’t know, it most likely is due to you maybe having a verified ID, i’ve heard stories about people with 2000 audios per month having no ID so it’s probably completely random.
Yeah, for game developers if they want to make a game and they’ve hit their limit then there is nothing they can do. They’ll have to take a break for 30 days. Lol.
Also I’d just like to point out how developers are already being prevented payment for up to 30 days for group payouts so if they want to do commissions they can’t do commissions and now they can’t upload audios.
With a silly reason, you can now make game development more tedious.
Due to the change, we will destroy roblox games and give the impression that we have made things better.
The day after the sounds were destroyed -
Roblox perceives that their platform actually only works because of the game developers.
2 At best, they realise that they have just destroyed the motivation of developers.
It’s been a matter of months when you can close your office and hang a job search ad on the Internet hoping someone wants to hire developers who let the platform down.
In addition, you will take down your servers if each player starts uploading music separately.
But well. What do I know? You can try it, but I’m more than sure it will.
The moment a roblox thinks it destroys sounds and developers don’t care.
Free uploading is just a silly excuse for your privacy policy.
This is going to impact hundreds of thousands of games, especially those who’s scripts go off of a sound being activated and now will not work. Thousands of songs will never be re-enabled because of the owner being banned, inactive, or whatever it may be. @Awo_kein explains some things perfectly when he states
I think the majority of users would agree that this is ridiculous, and should be fixed. I am a person who would like to upload audios. I am a person with not many visits and I get 10 audios per 30 days, I would honestly rather have to pay for them instead. Please reconsider this action unless you think it is 100 percent necessary.
I really appricate making Sounds for Free, but imo System should be completed before announcement…
Also, why this system is not similar to Intoduced some time ago Free badges system? I think that it’ll be better…
About policy changes. They’re really bas, making games Development harder than before. Also, a lot of Developers are leaving Roblox due to this decision to systems like Unity, Unreal Engine etc. They don’t have a lot of features making Development faster, but we’re not limited like now…
I don’t believe that this was Roblox’s preferred way to handle this. Seeing the very small update timeframe, and the incompleteness of their plan, I figure what happened was that the music industry placed a deadline for Roblox to figure out a plan to avoid paying fines or being sued, and they simply ran out of time to make a solution that they could both agree on. It’s not ideal, but I strongly believe that this was not the way they wanted this to go.
Yep, when that happens there truly is not future for us developers.
It’s so contradictory considering they’ve been promoting using others assets for so long via the toolbox and they’ve been giving assets verification to prove they’re legit. They’ve literally taken a U-turn, pulled out the Linked Sword - Roblox and starting slicing all of us into little pieces .
Honestly, cool that its free now and i understand.
Problem:
Group games cant use audio from developers now, I uploaded some audio to my own account, actually all of it. Is this just a bug or is it an overlooked thing?
I am completely understanding with the issues of copyright and stuff, however there are many flaws with this update.
Firstly, I think that the music being set to Private by default could be an issue. There may be people who are no longer with the roblox community who would like their music to be shared and used. I also have an issue with the fact that you are not yet able to make music public. What if my game is on a group or I am not the game owner, but a friend is and it’s team create, but I own the audio? The audio can’t be used at all.
Secondly, I think that, for people with 10 uploads a month maximum, you should be able to pay robux for it after the 10. I want to upload more than 10 items a month sometimes. To make a game involving the railway, like I wish, I need more than 10 for the sounds. It’s annoying.
Finally, Roblox’s respect for developers seems to have slowly been decreasing, you tend to fail to release a decent update without completely ruining the game within 2 months. It’s too hard for me as a small developer. I rely on other people’s music.
In conclusion, this update is destroying the game and a lot of chances. Some audio uploaders won’t return to make audio public again. It’s annoying. An update with many flaws. Too many flaws.
I apologize for my abrasive attitude here, but how do you guys screw up an update this badly? You guys definitely didn’t think about the consequences of this update thoroughly, especially with the fact that we cannot use our own audios under groups that we own. I’ve also heard rumors about other assets (including meshes and decals) getting the same treatment, which makes this a lot worse. And I have to wonder why this update was even approved in the first place. My only guess is that your filtering system for copyrighted (and NSFW) material isn’t working as intended. It seems like a last ditch effort to purge the site of that same content, but in the most brash and painfully incompetent way possible.
Please just roll back this update and reconsider what you guys are doing.
As if 1.5k posts wasn’t enough, an extra 300 posts were posted here aswell? Roblox has to be asleep if they cannot recognize all the backlash from this.
This is honestly terrible. Why should I have to give some corporation my ID so that I can upload more audios per month? How come it can’t also be a premium benefit too? Hell, I’d get Spatial Voice so I guess that’s a benefit, but no, not really looking forward to sharing that info with Roblox.
I would also like to point out the economic side of this whole update. This COULD be put under premium, but Roblox decided to put it under ID verification. I don’t know why, because if it was put under premium, people would actually buy it for more than just getting robux every month.
If Roblox puts upgraded free audio uploads under premium, not only are they getting people to actually buy premium, they are also getting more audio uploaders to join the platform. Because I mean, I would pay money per month for premium just to upload more audios. Maybe it could look something like this?
I don’t really mind it being under a form of ID verification, but why that? ID Verification should only allow users to access things that younger players shouldn’t be allowed to access, like Voice Chat. This new update is going to be just as horrible as a refurbished video game console from GameStop. Once again, I highly recommend you listen to the player base, and stop going with what the company wants you to go with. I have genuinely seen Roblox staff who are displeased with this update. They do not want this update to happen, but you force it on the engineers and such because you believe that it will help shape your version of the Metaverse. If you could at least change this update or cancel it entirely, I’d be pleased.
