I want to add 3 new categories to Bug Reports, Development Discussion and Help and Feedback:
-Roblox Events - pretty self explanatory, talking about Roblox Events such as The Hun: Mega Edition
-Moderation - would talk about Roblox moderation, bans, DMCA reports e.t.c.
-Exploits - can talk about hacking, but also about people abusing bugs, avatars, moderation e.t.c.
This would allow people to express more about other parts of Roblox while still being about development! Let me know what you think!
most moderation things arent exactly bugs, along with exploits, cause any bugs that are related to exploits are engine bugs.
Uh yeah,
The moderation system does have bugs though.
- Report button does literally nothing (source: reporting pornographic decals + items that are porn references that are still up to this day)
- The Support/Moderation system silently deletes peoples tickets (source: archival request was deleted, told multiple times that the ticket I was talking about did not exist, replying to the ticket that previously existed treated it as if I was just sending a no-context email to them - unsure if this is actually a bug or the support team themselves deleting the tickets)
- The eternally unpatched method of using mass-report bots to force a punishment without any sort of human verification
nvm I take back what I said earlier I didnt think about those lol ![]()
Theres a few things regarding this suggestion. Yes i believe there should be a events catagory for Bug Reports however the events team has decided to prefer Roblox Support instead like refered here:
I would prefer the devforum in my opinion
About Moderation, i get the addition for Bug Reports and adding guidelines for people to not use this as a appeal form as people would be using it 24/7 but rather for issues regarding reporting issues etc so that could work
It would probably be a useful catagory as everything either gets thrown into Bug Reports > Roblox Application and Website Bugs or Bug Reports > Other Bugs at the moment
Theres already a option to bug report this, theres a form you are suppose to fill out regarding exploits like stated here:
In my opinion some things are suppose to put into either a new catagory or into lounge but they don’t use this catagory alot anymore
Maybe this catagory could be inside Help and Feedback
So i talked about Bug Reports only in the above but i am also gonna share some opinions about the other catagories. Technically Development Discussion is suppose to be “development” related and this seems really like a lounge catagory situation where i am still hoping them to atleast use the ranking system again because i do not trust everyone with the “Member” rank to use that catagory sort of
And about Help and Feedback, sure! This would probably be useful like asking how to go through specific events, questions regarding moderation and about exploits i don’t know
Hey there, thanks for the feedback.
Could you explain how this relates to creation/development? We try to focus on creator discussions on this forum. If it’s bug reports or feature requests, the events usually mention how you should be sending those in to us.
Roblox staff cannot help you with moderation issues on the forum, it’s best to use the appeal features available or talk to our customer support team.
Is this about reporting exploits to Roblox? We’d like you to use HackerOne for security issues where you have clear repro steps. For anything else like how to deal with exploits yourself, existing help categories seem like they could be appropriate to me. (would mostly likely fall under “scripting” or “game design support” perhaps?)
Apologies for the bump in this thread, but I feel as though I have things to add.
I mean, Development Discussion or simply chatting in Announcements retrospectively, is probably one of the best places for that ?
Although I feel like having a “Moderation” category in the developer forums will end up getting mixed up with other user-generated queries or questions, that doesn’t necessarily mean that people should never be able to get feedback on other people about whether the moderation action was justified, especially if we are participating in public discourse relating to Roblox in general. This is where a “Moderation” category separate from Development Discussion may become useful.
We already have plenty of topics in Development Discussion about moderation, which is indicative that discussions about moderation is still important for some people to discuss in Devforum, even if others advise against it.
…
Correct me if I am wrong, but there isn’t really a proper way to contact the customer support team directly regarding moderation, to get more information because you only really have one shot at an appeal process. For example, in the circumstances of when an appeal becomes denied for whatever reason, or if the reason for the appeal given wasn’t considered enough by the Roblox cooperation to even consider on the subject further beyond Roblox’s own conclusion, then there’s limited detail on the actual status of your moderation, other than whether an appeal was denied on the status of any moderation taken against you.
This is a situation where, if everybody could contact Roblox about moderation regardless of an appeal process, then we wouldn’t necessarily have to think about asking for a “Moderation” category on the Devforum for discussions at all, because we could discuss it directly with Roblox’s customer support. And you really only have one shot at an appeal, barely enough time for you to be able to contact them. If Devforum isn’t the best place to talk about moderation, specifically “ranting” about personal moderations against you taken by Roblox, then there should be some extra feature or other method added to mitigate any questions, issues or topics about moderation actions being taken against you, which could really solve the problem we have now of people “ranting” in Development Discussions, just because they feel Roblox is ignoring them.
Edit: P.S. Furthermore, Roblox should be more open to concerns about moderation and letting the subject being moderated put their actions into context or at least acknowledgement, rather than Roblox moderating people based on their own beliefs about how somebody has acted and then punishing them for it. Otherwise, your going to see a lot more people complaining and defending their actions in categories, such as Development Discussions in the future.
-Exploits - can talk about hacking, but also about people abusing bugs, avatars, moderation e.t.c.
That’s one of the reasons, exactly why I said earlier:
“I feel like having a “Moderation” category in the developer forums will end up getting mixed up with other user-generated queries or questions” …
Because if you mix categories, your more likely to end up with people mixing about topics in the wrong forum categories, which could lead people to potentially go off-topic. Additionally, like others have said in this post, the Hackerone program is likely the best, most suitable option if it prevents others from reproducing reproductive steps to exploit vulnerabilities maliciously. The more you talk about specific vulnerabilities in public categories, the higher the likelihood of somebody being able to abuse the vulnerabilities being discussed, which is not what people or Roblox necessarily want.
