Adding water without destroying surrounding terrain

Hello  , I am having some problems with using the terrain editor by adding water to the scene without destroying the surrounding terrain. The sea-level tool is only adding squares and you can’t use it to paint water onto the terrain without removing the terrain. :mountain:

Here is an image if the sea level tool: :ocean:

and here is the add tool: :heavy_plus_sign:

If there is a plugin or a method for this please tell me as I spent an hour trying to fix this.

  • Thanks :+1:

If I recall correctly, there should be an option to add in a region. This way you can select where you want your water placed. Other than that, there isn’t much you can do, if I am not mistaken.

It’s not something that regular developers can help you with, just try to scale it properly or add more environment stuff.

Hello,
Is this what you mean by the region.

Yes! Using the fill feature! you’ll need to move around the body of water but that should do the trick.

Oh, I am pretty sure there is an option for it but I can do that if there isnt.

I have tried that and this is the outcome of it. It removes the terrain when I drag it into the plunge pool.

But thanks for the suggestion

Oh and also I found this video and I saw Soy adding water into the terrain without destroying it and I don’t know how to do that or what settings he have. The clip starts at 8:50 when he adds water into the lake. Here is the video:

If you look at his options, it seems that plane lock is enabled as well as snap to grid

I have just tried it and it did not work.

I think have a plugin or something which allows Soy to do this.

I’ll see if I can write some code to do this.
Edit: I have to eat dinner. I might message you it later.

This tool is a bit outdated but it still has the same thing just a different format and a few new features.

I have tried that method and it seems to not work and just destroy/ remove the terrain which would be colliding with the water. But thank you for the suggestion.

Uh, just do Sea Level. It’s in Terrain Editor.

Um, The Sea level is unable to be used to paint the terrain and it is only a square so you cant make elevated lakes or waterfalls.

Oh yeah  What about a plugin?

Idk, what plugin to use for it. Roblox used to use adding water with an option for ignoring land I think but I am not sure. Although if there is a plugin then it would help me a lot in my game like around 50% of it terrain as it is an exploration game. :+1: Sorry for the late response!
