As a Roblox player, I find it hard to play some roblox games on high resolutions.
For example, if I were to play a game with nice graphics, I would have to decrease my screen resolution in Windows settings because my computer doesn’t really have good specs, and i have to lower my screen resolution to play at 60 fps most of the time. I want to be able to change back to fullHD when im out of the game without any hustle.
It is fine for the most part, but it gets hard when I want to play and use studio at the same time. Studio requires you to have at least a FullHD resolution to be used properly, and in some cases I have to drop my screen resolution to 1280x720. It takes some time to change the resolution and get back into action, and I think that this shouldn’t be necessary!
So, my idea is, when you go to the settings menu in the roblox client and have fullscreen turned on it would give you an option to change the resolution, really fast and easy.
We need advanced settings without having to open Studio to change them or using shader injectors which do not comply with Roblox’s terms. I have a 15" laptop with a 1440p display, so there is clearly no need for anti-aliasing, yet MSAA is forced on me if I want the full graphical experience.
Roblox partially brought us this feature by introducing 4 PostEffect instances, so I feel like the best approach would be to add additional instances for each important effect. A starter script would control these settings, and removing any of them from the script will show them as defined by developer, just like the camera mode currently works. If no instance is present in Lighting, a new one will be created when the game is loaded with default properties; otherwise, the currently present instance will be used.
This will allow developers to create custom settings, but also lock effects that could cause unfairness such as blur.
We overall need more lighting and graphical options like in other engines, as someone who enjoys ps1-ps2 era games this would be a dream come true, i dont wanna have to spend 5 hours trying to “lessen” the graphics
