Allowing developers to get a refund on badges purchased before free badges update

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to get refunded from assets that you paid for which have no use to the website anymore.

If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my development experience because a lot of developers might make a good use of the refunded robux from these contents.

A while ago, users used to create these “Badge walk” kind of games which were used to “rise the badges amount” in a user’s inventory. A lot of people paid for these, in the past but after the update on 25 February, everyone was able to make 5 badges free per day.

It would be nice if older badges which were paid in the past, could get refunded to developers, for example, if I uploaded 10 badges before the update, I would pay 1,000 Robux, but today I would only pay 500 Robux. Being able to refund some of my badges would save me some of my Robux which I could use for other developing purposes, such as investing in ads or uploading marketplace accessories.

It would be nice to allow people to refund badges if they fit within the first 5 badges of a day, for example, if I paid 1500 robux to upload 15 badges in a day before the update, I would be able to get 5 of those badges refunded, returning me 500 robux back.

I currently have a “badges” game which is out of use, and I would like being able to permanently make my badges unobtainable but get a full refund on all of the badges that I paid for, or atleast first 5 of each day.

Additionally, being able to refund ALL badges on a game, would be a very nice thing, and perhaps making the badges possibly forever archived/inactive as a way of making sure the developer can’t work with the badge that was refunded.

Hey there, we discussed this internally, we will not be giving refunds for old badges that were created with a Robux fee. The badge fee on each badge upload is a historical feature and we’re not planning on walking that back retroactively, it served its purpose during the times that this was in place.

I know that’s not what you wanted to hear, but hopefully this gives closure on this.

Alright, that’s very unfortunate but thanks for the response!

I had contacted Roblox support a few days after this change originally launched, and the denied it then anyways. Would be cool if this happened, I think I spent 2k+ on badges. Thanks for the response HookSmith!
