Try our audio search tool (Dev Forum link) – use the genre and emotion buttons – you would be surprised at the number of good music tracks on Roblox – they are just hard to find.
i can finally have PVZ and Sonic music without uploading them myself
some song uploaded has been replaced by default due to copyright.

for some reason i am now able to use distrokid songs in other games… im not sure if this is a mistake
Yes. It looks like Roblox just changed Distrokid songs to work “just” like other Roblox songs. No need to add them to your inventory now!! Just call their IDs and they should work!
its so weird that there’s no announcement about this.
Hey Creators,
We’re excited to introduce What’s Playing, a new feature designed to enhance music discovery and engagement in your experiences. The roll out begins today, and some of you will start seeing it soon.
What’s new?
- Music Info at a Glance – Players can now see verified track details (song name, artist) from the in-experience controls menu.
- Engagement – Players can “like” tracks, contributing to Roblox’s Music Top 100 Charts.
- Content Moderation – Users can flag inappropriate tracks for review.
How it works:
- A new music section will appear in the controls menu when eligible tracks are playing.
- Audio must come from verified sources (e.g., DistroKid, Monstercat, APM).
- The UI minimizes after a few seconds to avoid disrupting gameplay.
Which music tracks can participate in What’s Playing:
- Use music from distributors with verified ISRCs (International Standard Recording codes). Distributors include DistroKid, Monstercat, APM, Clippsly, BSlick and more.
- This feature integrates seamlessly with existing developer-enabled playback systems like boomboxes, jukeboxes, or background OSTs.
We’re so excited to see how you’ll use What’s Playing to enhance your experiences and drive music discovery and engagement.

This looks really cool. Are there any new APIs coming out with this new feature for developers to modify the UI as of release?
Will there be any way to manually prompt which song is currently playing in the music menu? If I make an OST for my game, I’m not sure if I’d like to partner with a traditional distributor.
The UI minimizes after a few seconds to avoid disrupting gameplay.
Does this mean the UI shows up unprompted by players?
Also, worth mentioning that I would find it useful to be given a basic rect + visibility state for every piece of core UI which is visible on the screen, e.g. the playerlist, chat, player self view, and this new music notification thing, so that we can avoid overlaps in our UIs.
not immediately, but yes something we are thinking about and will continue to iterate on.
The UI is driven by player action. The player would need to use the experience controls to be able to select and bring out the music section.
Will there be a way for developers to completely disable this feature (maybe something like Enum.CoreGuiType.Music
)? A lot of experiences really do not need this button in the hamburger menu, especially ones that don’t use any public music.
Don’t really understand the point of this feature regardless, unless Roblox is planning on turning itself into a music streaming service.
I’ve been having significant performance issues with the “Music” feature enabled.
Where I would usually always get around 60 FPS, it can now sometimes drop to around 20-40. No idea what causes this, but this happens frequently for me in Jailbreak. This happens regardless of what my graphics quality is set to.
Setting FFlagEnableSongbirdInChrome2
to False
fixes this.
Aw, I really wish this would work on non-public tracks too, it’d be a nice way to credit the composers on the fly.
The feature has been rolled back as we investigate this!
this audio update would be peak if this was timeless by carti
This is an interesting feature but can we disable it to avoid duplication? I already have a feature that displays the name of the music that plays during the game and they are showed in the chat.
The feature has a good idea in its core, but it would become golden if developers had the ability to disable it and if more tracks, rather than only those limited to ISRCs, could be displayed.
Im hoping this a option feature beause some games this would be a annoying pop up
