Hey all,
As most of you know, a couple months back we announced that we’ve been working on a remastered version of Fishing Simulator (announcement link: Fishing Simulator Remaster). We initially estimated the release to be early December. However, it’s quite obvious that we weren’t able to achieve that estimate. Therefore, I’m writing this to update you guys on the progress and hopefully answer some of the questions you’ve been asking.
When will the Remaster update be released?
We still can’t give an exact release date yet. We’re estimating that it’ll take a couple more months to complete. Our whole team is working hard to get it out as soon as we can, but at the same time we want to make sure that this update will turn out really great.
The good news is that things are finally starting to come together. We’ve already begun testing phase in which our team of testers plays the game to check for any bugs or issues.
Will I lose everything I currently have in the game?
No, you won’t have to restart the game. We are not going to reset data.
Why is the Remaster update taking so long?
The main reason for this is because we’re re-writing nearly all of the game’s code. Normally, the new features that will come with this update wouldn’t take so long to complete. However, we are literally re-creating the game’s scripts from the ground up.
Which brings us to the next question…
Why did you decide to re-write the game’s code? Wasn’t the game already working well enough?
The problem with the old code is that it was inefficient and poorly written. Our programming team grew from 2 to about 6 people now, and with a team this big it’s pretty much impossible to effectively build on top of the old code without constantly dealing with lots of bugs and issues.
Our new code is much more organized and much more efficient. We are also using way better tools which makes it much easier for our team to collaborate and work together.
So what does all this mean?
This means that the Remaster update isn’t just going to make the game more fun to play. It means that the Remaster is setting the game up for future success. With all of the growth that has been happening within our team and with all of the changes that the Remaster will bring, we will be able to release updates more consistently and efficiently.
We’ve got lots of exciting stuff planned for Fishing Simulator next year, so stay tuned! It’s going to be an exciting year!
Happy Holidays!
