Announcement: Competitions at PSGA 
Happy Holidays, everyone! PSGA has been around for 2 years now and we haven’t yet introduced competitions (other than that one showcase we hosted). We had every intention to when we began but got overwhelmed with other things of importance, pushing competitions to the backburner.
We are excited to announce that come 2022, we will officially begin with monthly competitions!
Now, the majority of the ro-gymnastics community is used to competitions at OGC. However, competitions at PSGA will be significantly different, and maybe slightly more complex?
Here’s a short breakdown of how competitions are expected to work:
We plan to have three different types of competitions, actually.
- Showcase Competitions (A fun event for all gymnasts)
- Optional Level Competitions (Competitions for levels 6-10 that allow them to level up)
- Intersquad Competitions (Competitions for Levels 1-5 that are not for leveling up, but for fun)
Most competitions will be held in the PSGA Competition Arena (soon to be under construction), but not all. As a matter of fact, some may be held at our allied groups’ gym.
Showcase competitions will be held periodically and are a chance for any gymnast to perform their best routines, on one event of their choosing. These comps are just for fun and the gymnasts will not be scored and judged per usual but instead will be given a rating on a scale of 1-10.
Optional Level competitions are the medium in which the optional gymnasts (levels 6-10) will advance in level. There may or may not be competitions against another gym. If they are not, it may be an intrasquad comp, OR even not a competition at all - in the literal sense - but more of an evaluation where each gymnast will perform their routines and then be scored…like a tryout, but more professional.
Intrasquad competitions are when you compete against your own team. These comps will be held for compulsory gymnasts as a fun event so that they can get an idea of how real competitions will work when they become optionals. These comps will occur for optionals too, the difference being that it is for the optionals to advance in level.
Showcase competitions can be expected to be live-streamed on PSGA’s Youtube channel. Other comps may be live-streamed as well, but for now, we are only certain for showcase comps.
This may sound like a lot, but don’t worry, we’ve created a schedule that will allow for each of these competitions without them interfering. We will create a more extensive guide to competitions soon, but for now, that’s all. Thanks for reading, we’re all really excited about competitions!
