I have the same opinion, badges being pricy was a part of giving them a worth. A few badges to start off I can agree with but 5 daily badges, most creators don’t even make this many badges normally, badges are less of value now, but can’t really hate you don’t have to spend on badges anymore.
I think this will just shift the community to focus on hard to get badges rather than the amount of badges you have. The community was fully built on a fee that Roblox could have removed at any time and that time happened to be now.
ayo bro we understand but some small developers rely on this feature to promote their game!
This helpful for poor developers! I was waiting for this feature.
@MineJulRBX can you send a get request here and see the result:
https://badges.roblox.com/v1/universes/[UNIVERSE ID]/free-badges-quota
You don’t need 5 badges daily, I literally said most creators even with the money don’t create this many.
Having a 1 off amount for free would already be good enough.
I’d thought this day would never happen
What about people who bought badges with robux?
Will they get a refund?
It says 4, after I was charged 100, for the only badge I’ve created on that game. BRUH
I believe the contrary, lot’s of badges can be useful and I think the only thing limiting games from having a lot was the cost and the belief that it isn’t worth it.
If we look at a simulator for example, badges it could have could be badges for each item/tool in it, every milestone, etc
Or maybe it’s a FPS game, you could have badges for getting a certain KDR, kill milestones, etc
isnt that meant used for temp badges like events? i seem understand this announcement, and thanks for doing that!
roblox updates sometimes are best.
The problem is that the whole badge community has focused themselves on the amount of badges you have rather than the rarity of such badges. Badges still have a value and that’s their rarity, it just isn’t based on how much a developer payed for the badge anymore.
This update will truly make a world of difference for many developers. I’m guessing this update was implemented in light of all these ‘badge hunt’ games popping up, but I’m not entirely sure.
If you are a developer I highly advise you to add badges to your games as they encourage badge hunting communities and youtubers. It really is a great way to promote your game and now it’s cheaper than ever!
Oh damn.
You should contact Roblox support and try to get a refund, although they probably won’t do much but it’s worth a try
I am really happy that this is now a feature! Now I can upload 5 badges for free for each experience and not having to pay 100 robux to upload a badge!
Rarity is an impossible measurement, the statistics Roblox shows on the page does not at all properly reflect how difficult it is to get that badge & the less interest a game itself has, the less valuated the badges are as there’s not enough information or interest to tell it is indeed rare or hard between the community or Roblox players in general.
I think it’d be a good thing for Roblox to add a control over badge rarity for developers, or at least allow developers to influence badge rarity in some way rather than calculating it based on game visits
They’ve implemented the 5 per day for exactly this reason. Mostly to prevent a bunch of worthless badge walks. Although it will be easier to get badges it will still be exciting to get a badge as a player clueless to this change.
However the number of badges a player has is also a flawed metric as someone could make a private badge walk game and inflate their own badges. I think this update is great and if you disagree that’s fair, I just don’t think this update should be reverted because the badge community heavily relies on a fee being in-place.
None of us said we want the update reverted. We love the idea of free badges, we just think it’s too many. There’s barely a limit.
Roblox the only words I want to say is ‘Thank you.’
