And this is why I’m quitting roblox. UGC is just a bunch of people stealing and copying with no real creativity.
I do have a question regarding the phrase “creators can specify the quantity of their creations giving them control over their scarcity” as UGC limiteds is not the best decision to release. (In my opinion)
Is there a specific minimum/maximum amount of quantities that the creators could specify?
I want to know the stock ranges for making a ugc limited so that it doesn’t run out of copies as soon as the creators release it.
You do know that you don’t have to buy them right?
This actually concerns me a bit.
With how poor the moderation currently is I feel like people are going to abuse the hell out of this.
Also I don’t want to end up having to pay like 999,999 Robux for a simple tophat or a bunch of cat ears just to name something which I can already see happening.
The idea and intentions are well, but I don’t have enough faith in humanity for this not to be abused to the point where it starts parodying itself and where people start to view it as a joke.
I like the idea but please have some strict rules and moderation for what can and cannot be a limited item and a price cap.
It’s the fact that roblox is allowing these poorly made knock-offs on their platform, there is no moderation for these UGC creations at all…
I agree 100% Though I don’t think its worth quitting for. But hey, I can’t tell you what to do.
How is refunding going to work with these.
Previously when items were content deleted, users would get refunds.
Given the very blatant copies and copyright infringement already running rampant, how will refunds possibly work with trading and varying prices?
I think it does apply for all accessories.
Will be interesting to see how many of these items actually have demand once the 30 days are over.
From what I’m seeing many of the new limiteds are already struggling to sell out.
Unfortunately looks like this was poor execution of a promising idea.
Really cool idea, considering now players can trade their custom limited items!
I like the idea of this, but I believe Roblox needs to step up their Quality Assurance for UGC items before they release something of this scale.
I’ve already seen some UGC limiteds that look like absolute trash and ruin the concept of limiteds being desirable items.
This would be a great update if Roblox put enough resources into ensuring the items are high quality.
Despite what I just said, I know there are creators out there that will make high quality, original items that will make desirable limiteds. Therefore, I rate this update:
6/10
Like I have stated before, we all know how Roblox moderation is. Even if Roblox puts rules in place that does not mean everyone will follow them.
They can put the rules in place, but they can also choose to enforce them. There’s a difference. If they enforce them the right way, it shouldn’t be as much of a problem.
Only in another universe this would happen, not to be rude to the moderators, but they give out false warnings and take to much time to approve a decal that says “Hi”
That’s what I mean, moderation is not very good on Roblox.
I’m praying right now that this is a late April Fools joke.
Could they possibly get off sale UGC rewardable by games
imagine the old roblox events rewards that were hats
it would be awesome if this could return in the form of rewardable UGC
This is a nice feature and definitely opens up more opportunities. Although, it seems poorly executed and rushed. I like the idea of limited quantities of items, although wouldn’t this defeat the purpose of the item being rare is every item is on a limited quantity? Also, the fact UGC limiteds are put under the Limited U category doesn’t sit right with me, it feels extremely out of the ordinary. Hopefully more polish is received!
This kind of kills the feature for me. The top few items in the market have continued in the past few years to gain value indefinitely, becoming “extinct” as copies disappear to terminations, and almost impossible to find someone willing to trade it, unless you want to give an unreasonably high amount. It would’ve been nice to see those items fall due to low-stock competition, but having to buy items rather than trade for them makes this unlikely. In addition, a lot of items have really inflated lately, which is what I assume Roblox was making old items limited again for. It would really help make the market more fair and accessible if UGC collectibles were traded.
I do think that one new collectible per day is really excessive, though. To encourage quality, and to make sure people bring their best items to the table, that limit should be extended to something like a month, especially if Roblox made these tradeable.
Hopefully things will change but I don’t imagine in this current state that most items will be worth buying for the user.
Edit:
Too bad. It’s past time the top few valued users have to actually actively trade instead of sitting on the same item for year after year watching it explode in value.
Possibly the best idea I have seen in awhile; As the Roblox badge system is very outdated and not of importance to most users It would be a great time for Roblox to introduce rewardable UGC.
Allowing users to “connect” UGC to badges so when the badge is awarded the user is also granted the connected UGC. This simple feature would boost the motivation to work for badges completely as seen in past Roblox events.
