I made an admin system with a report feature. I am wondering if we are allowed to ask users to submit proof by an offsite image upload like imgur (or other sites) because ROBLOX users can’t upload files onto ROBLOX by a textbox. So is this allowed or not? Note: Reports go to a discord channel.
Proofs are like images or vidoes.
Question: Can we ask for links to offsite services to gain proof
Please let me know ASAP!
You are allowed I mean it’s proof… they might be lying or not you don’t know… but at the same time I think it would be better to ask them to join the discord server and send there proof it’s better that way just to be safer that way…
Proof like images, and videos. Should’ve clarified.
Question About this do you mean in a GUI or you mean in the discord?
Ok, let say someone reported something You can ask for proof no matter what style.
Something like that is completely allowed, although you may also want to include an in-game option for reports (similar to how Stylis Studios does with Phantom Forces).
I would also recommend telling users to file a report in the form of a recording/video, since a single image (especially for FPS games) often don’t have enough context to determine whether a user is cheating or not.
That’s why I am asking for a link for the image or video.
You can’t send links to player that are younger than 13 years old due to Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) , also Discord ToS says that the users are required to older than 13. This is not including ROBLOX rules.
Welcome to Discord! These Terms of Service (“Terms”), which include and hereby incorporate the Privacy Policy at LINK REMOVED (“Privacy Policy”), are a legal agreement between Discord Inc. and its related companies (the “Company,” “us,” “our,” or “we”) and you (“you” or “your”). By using or accessing the Discord application (the “App”) or the website located at LINK REMOVED (the “Site”), which are collectively referred to as the “Service,” you agree (i) that you are 13 years of age or older, (ii) if you are the age of majority in your jurisdiction or over, that you have read, understood, and accept to be bound by the Terms, and (iii) if you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, that your legal guardian has reviewed and agrees to these Terms.
Exactly, for a case such as this i’d only allow the user to input a link, not give them one to follow themselves because there’s no way for Roblox to verify that it’s a safe link and I believe the game could be taken down for that.
That’s why asking if it allowed because of the fact no users will see the proof but people who are on the moderation team for my games.
Logically speaking I don’t see anything wrong with this as long as it’s only the game’s staff team that are going to be viewing these links, and not other players. This still seems like a bit of a gray area though, are the links going to be viewed ingame or off-site via HTTPService?
It will always be viewed on different than ROBLOX, we use separate Discord Server for Reports, Feedback, etc. All staff is protected, by the fact we get Player Name and UserId of the reported and reporter player. So, we can ban the person who shares inappropriate images (Unless they are proof).
Also, some website is added to blacklist that contains inappropriate images altogether, if it is detected automatic ban the reporter for abusing the report system.
Aslong as you’re asking for a link, instead of sending people to your discord, you should be fine.
I think that wouldn’t be a problem, because only you can see the link and not players of your game in Roblox. The link that players put in the field can’t be seen in Roblox, only in Discord.
