Players can search by genre or vibe across 1000s of tracks - no need to leave your experience to copy sound IDs. This includes the new Distrokid tracks released at RDC24.
Song favoriting so players can keep track of songs they love
Compact UI keeps the focus on the game
Configurable - change player location, default audio selection, or accent colors
Audioscape is a small team of developers, sound designers, and composers. We are passionate about raising the bar for audio quality on Roblox. We built a new developer tool for audio search, and once we got search working properly there, we thought it would be cool to make it available in a free boombox plugin for music listening. We were surprised at the number of good music tracks available for free on Roblox.
Why did we release it as a plugin and not a RBXM?
We have a ton of features planned for the boombox, like extending the playlist functionality, a physical boombox, and better search (along with what you all suggest). We felt that a plugin would allow us to iterate faster and push updates out smoother (instead of having to bother devs to manually update their modules), and therefore enable a better experience.
Current Dev Custom Controls
Control maximum volume
Specify player location (or have it moveable), and whether it starts minimized/maximized
Pre-seed the queue with your own audio selections (push a track to the player when you need to control the music)
No, the demo game is not intended to be open source/editable. It’s just a demonstration of the plugin working in-game. But if you like the map, is an open source map from freeflow.
BTW: We added a “DistroKid” radio channel (click on the search/magnifying glass and find the DistroKid button – let us know if it works for you – some other users have been having issues playing Distrokid tracks in-game).
This looks great. I was looking for a radio system that players can use while driving vehicles. Although I’m looking for this to fit into my game which already has it’s own theme, UI, and other music playing in the world. Am I able to choose my own list of songs I’d like players to be able to play from? Can I choose to have audio play on a certain sound object? Is it exploit safe?
Yes, you will be able to choose your own list(s) of songs. The workflow we are planning is: assemble a playlist using our Audio Discovery Tool, and publish that to your player as a radio station.
Per you already having music in your game. See our installation guide on Github. The Advanced Settings allow you to push tracks to the player (to change the music when a player enters a new area of the map). That might help you coordinate music playback between dev-controlled, and player-controlled.
We are also open to providing ways to change the look and feel of the player more than just location, accent colors, and whether it is minimized/maximized. Tell us how you’d like your player to look and we’ll work on ways to enable that.
Reach out to us on our Discord (link in the original post ) and we’ll help you get this all sorted.
