2020-7-9 v0.8.3.2

  • Ball sound FX now actually play consistently and at the right volume.
    • Now when balls hit the ground the first time, they actually make the sound immediately and at full volume always.
  • Experimental Pumper Pusher change: now inflates balls ~40% faster.
  • Summit + Crunchy Cross: adjusted out of bounds forcefields to make it so you can’t hit them when you aren’t actually out of bounds.

2020-7-5 v0.8.3.1

  • Added an option for changing the speed balls drop at when you hold the mouse.
    • The fastest speed is ~60% faster than the previous default.

2020-7-4 v0.8.3 - THE UNINTENTIONAL 4TH OF JULY DUCK-DEPENDENCE DAY UPDATE

  • Grapple and Pumper pushers are now significantly more responsive and less buggy:
    • Fixes For both Grapple and Pumper:
      • The code for shooting and retrieving now runs on the client so that you don’t have guarenteed 100ms+ of latency every time you shoot or let go of a ball.
        • Previously, if your connection to the server was laggy enough, it would prevent the grappler from hooking onto balls at all. This is no longer an issue.
        • You can thank Roblox’s Filtering Enabled for making fixing this necessary and for costing over 30 40 hours of my life trying to get the ropes and welds to actually behave. :v
      • Before, the bottom balls of towers were often stuck in place when you tried to tug at them. If you pull on them now, they will instead pleasantly fall over and die.
      • When the rope stretches and breaks, it actually does 3 notches properly instead of randomly only doing 0/1/2 before ripping. (also fixed the sounds not playing sometimes)
      • Previously your character’s animation would break whenever you were hooked to a ball. Now dis has been fix. Yeeeeee
    • Fixes for the Pumper Pusher:
      • When the rope is stretched out, now it only prevents you from walking at full speed if you’re facing away from the ball now. That kind of, you know, makes more sense.
        • But if you are facing away, it decreases your walk speed and jump height more than previously.
      • Previously, character’s who were pumping a ball would be frozen in place for everyone else (and somehow no one, including me, ever noticed this as a bug). This buggy is now thankfully, finally dead.
      • The pump’s explosion radius has been increased from 28 to 33. (I might change this again)
  • You can now hold down the mouse to drop balls!
    • In the red menu, you can choose whether dropping balls fall where you initially clicked or if they will follow your mouse while you are holding it down.
    • There is a spiffy new UI indicator to help you see how many balls you drop per click.
  • Little new nice things:
    • Billiard balls now actually make billiard ball sounds! :0
    • The water in the practice area and Duck Shot now actually make water sounds!

    • Duck Shot now lets you do the [???]
    • The practice area will now become more pitchalicious and toneatious after staying in it a bit. :3
    • I made that stupid XP bar resizing function less dumb by giving players 2 options instead of 3 (the 3rd option was dumb and useless) and made it so that the game actually saves what you picked. :v
  • Other bugfixes:
    • In the practice area, if you pull a sinking ball out of the water, it will now return to its proper weight instead of getting increasingly heavy.
    • Fixed pusher sound FXs for most tools not playing for players other than the one using the tool.

2020-6-1 v0.8.2.3

  • Bugfix: Sword now properly equips for the Sword Battle bonus round
    • It wasn’t working in the previous update (v0.8.2.2) where I fixed the rest of the inventory system.

2020-5-27

  • Bugfixes
    • Pressing Q multiple times before piercing a ball with a pump no longer makes it pump up at (possibly) hyperspeed
    • Rainbow pusher design occasionally not working has hopefully been fixed (if we find it isn’t, then I’ll go dig through the code again)

2020-5-25 v0.8.2.2

  • Tools work properly again - Sorry about that. XP
    • Roblox released a patch for player backpacks on 4/28 and it broke the Balls inventory system because I was relying on that bug for it to work. After much procrastinating and n00bing, I made a new system that works pretty well. (Fingers crossed that there isn’t some rare and bizarre glitch hiding in there still)
  • Grippy Gloves Pusher temporarily disabled because it’s been unfinished this entire time and I never should’ve released it (orz). It doesn’t work properly with half the custom ball designs and because it’s overpowered. Temporarily removing the gloves will give me more motivation to actually make them good.
  • Added 3 new songs
    • Each Ball DEFCON 1 map has it’s own song to create MAXIMUM INTENSITY NUCLEAR SPECTACTULAR ACTION
    • Rail City gets it’s own unique jazz-ey, city-ey, funky-ey song. (The previous song still plays on Olympus as before)
  • Bloop Boots now unlock at level 21 instead of 0 because they work well enough to be out of beta.
  • The white circle that covers your screen when it’s your turn no longer annoys you with it’s presence in single player, since
 you know, it’s literally always your turn anyway.
  • If a player dies before the match starts or drops out (leaves game, goes AFK, goes to Break Mode), the experience pool for other players shrinks to match the remaining number of players.
    • ie. If 2 players leave a 5 player game mid way through, the game will be scored as a 3 player game instead.
  • Smaller Bugfixes:
    • I honestly forget if mud was still broken or not before this update. Rest assured it is actually, finally fixed now.
    • Fixed Break Mode toggle not working during the match results screen (you know, the time people want to hit it most).
    • When a player leaves before the match starts, it will finally consistently show that they are gone and why they’re gone (normal death, left game, went AFK, or went to Break Mode).

2020-1-5 v0.8.2.1

  • Certain maps now have force fields that push you back if you’re naughty and try to get into their secret hiding places. :3
    • There’s also a force field far above every map to catch people when the physics engine occasionally flings you up there.
  • During matches, you can now see each player’s equipped pusher on the turn/ball counter UI on the bottom left.
  • Fixed mud after I broke it in the last update.
  • Fixed Headsphere’s price in shop displaying as 35 instead of 34 Robux.
  • Tweaked lava a bit to make it a bit oranger and less bright.
  • Tweaked the pain levels of the Grapple and Pumper pushers to induce a more childish repsonse out of players’ mouths.

12-30 v0.8.2

  • NEW BETA FEATURE: Precision Mode
    • Hold down [Left Control] to make it so that you can stand still and aim the Grapple + Pump Pushers with [A] and [D] without moving all over the place. Particularly in tight spaces next to balls or lava, this can make it uhh
 actually possible to aim at stuff in certain tight spots without killing yourself now. :o
  • Lava visual overhaul: Lava now nicely glows, mesmerizingly getting brighter and dimmer + it makes mini fires. Hopefully it will actually look look enough like lava to make people not have the urge to walk into it.
    • Lava now looks the same across all maps, instead of randomly being 2 different styles depending on how recent the map was. :v
    • Lava also sets you on fire now :3
  • Duck Shot mode major bugfixes
    • (hopefully) fixed most (all, if we’re insanely lucky) instances of ducks randomly freezing during rounds
    • fixed ducks sometimes not being able to shoot or drive when the connection to the server is lagging badly
  • Duck Head Ball is now actually not invisible again.
  • Lava Lump renamed to Big Bump again, since lava hopefully looks enough like lava for people to not need lava in the map name anymore. :v
  • DEFCON 1 Map - Crusherator:
    • Second giant duck ball that’s easier to reach added.
    • Glass adjusted on the ramp with the duck balls to remove a place where players could hide from balls.
  • Olympus: Fixed lava volcano killing you if your legs clip through the ground enough to touch it.
  • Stadium Death: Made lava lower than the walkable platform so you don’t die from your foot slightly touching it anymore.
  • Interface: When you’re playing a match by yourself, the “It’s Your Turn” notification and the giant white circle around your mouse no longer annoy you with their presence.
  • The grapple pusher has been redesigned to be much more painful. Players of “Balls
 Now With Strategy!” without proper Balls Body Armor (MSRP: R$31337*10^17) are implicitly acknowledging they understand and accept this risk when joining a server, and therefore forefit all of their rights

11-1 v0.8.1.1

  • GUI control prompts now work better, have smoother tweening, and are more complete (only pumper pusher + gloves are incomplete still)
  • Joining new servers is probably faster since new servers run setup scripts in 12-ish seconds instead of 25-ish.
  • BUGFIX: The deadly purple ramps on Hill Death now kill you if you’re already touching them when activated

8-29 v0.8.1

  • GUI control prompts that tell you how to play duck mode and use all the pushers have been added
    • most of them will highlight when you use them, and fade away when you can’t use them
  • made a thumbnail for boots so they look less dumb

7-20 v0.8

  • NEW Bonus Mode “BALLSPLOSION [DEFCON 1]” added!
    • Plays like a normal round except everyone can spam balls at once.
    • You can spam even after you die.
    • To make it easier to survive, your walkspeed is about 30% faster.
    • This mode is starting out with two maps this time: Glass Pass and The Crusherator.
  • Duck Shot is back online again
  • New Balls Remaining indicator next to your mouse!
    • So on your turn you dont have to look down to see how many you have left!
  • Glass: Now will consistently be broken by balls directly dropped on them, instead of working only 85-90% of the time
  • Gloves: Fixed bug where they would activate while typing in the chat
  • Practice Area: Duck controls no longer become awful if the connection to the server gets laggy
  • Practice area: Jumping in water doesnt make you fly ridiculously high anymore
  • FOV/Volume Adjusters: Fixed glitch where they both would break on you entering the game sometimes

  • The game was only running 3 maps for testing and damage was broken on duck mode (from 0.7.2.1) because I assumed no one would be playing the game. I’ve fixed these two issues, and in the future I’ll do these on the test server. Sorry about that. xp

    • They do what they say they do: Make a trail as your ball moves that matches the color of your ball. If you have a rainbow ball, it goes rainbow with it too!

    • Billiard balls have special ball icons
    • Both rainbow designs transition thru colors as they do on actual balls

  • Pincer: The two upper islands now each have two ramps tipped with lava → should make being on the upper part more interesting
  • Stadium Death: Added more lava space, a barrier in the middle to stop balls from crossing, and added red X spaces to the bottom tips of the ramps
  • Stadium Death, Glassy Garden, and Crunchy Cross all come up less often now

2-23 v0.5.3

  • Ducks will now create toxic waste feces once they have inhaled enough raw sewage tasty, hydrating water from our heavily polluted pristine lake
  • Game now properly equips the tools you had equipped the last time you played - same with designs, outfits, and the tip jar (Other than for the pushers themselves, this has been broken forever, and I’m happy that I’ve finally fixed this)
  • Pump: somehow it took me until now to notice that if you use ANY custom design with your Pumper Pusher, then it lets you walk at full speed with it - like with the grappling hook. Just put an end to that, jesus. :p

  • Smooth Rainbow Design: Now animates properly on balloons instead of just being static

  • cursor now flashes white when you click to try to drop balls

  • if you spawn as AFK in the practice area, you now always have your pushers with you
  • leaderboard no longer gets stuck after matches end if you had a menu open beforehand
  • your equip menu refreshes each time you open it now rather than only when you swap pages

  • Break Mode has finally been re-enabled!
    • Break Mode lets you stay in the practice area indefinitely so you can experiment, go AFK, look in the shop, participate in duck hostile takeovers, whatever you want!
  • made it so the results screen, pusher tooltips, and more let you click thru them so you can drop balls still
  • results screen moves out of the way and gives you a smaller version if you click the screen (you know, to kill the person who won at the end of the match XP)
  • most descriptions in the interface have been changed to Source Sans so it’s easier to read
  • descriptions and other parts of the interface have better contrast for reading now
  • new timer UI I made that is semi-game themed rather than the previous stock one
    • timer also turns orange when there’s 20 seconds left in the match; turns red at 10 seconds
    • also finally fixed the timer counting negative (and at like 7 decimal places) when first spawning at break time
  • updated ball count UI on the bottom left so it doesn’t look disgusting on low resolution screens (before the center of the ball would be way off and just look kind of gross)
  • people who quickly and return to a game will still show as left on the results screen

  • grappling hook now forces setting the network owner to who hooked the ball in 95% of cases
  • muted duck quacking sound effect in Duck Shot other than when you initially spawn
  • adjusted some sound FX levels again
