I was wondering what software you guys think is great for making video game music plus that it is free and easy to use.
Try LMMS, it’s absolutely great for beginners. Unlike the free versions (without pirating) of many other DAWs, VST functionality is not locked in LMMS. It is a full fledged free DAW and also very user-friendly for beginning to learn how to make music while not being too limited and dumbed down in in functionality.
Besides that, Spitfire Labs and BCCSO (BBC Symphony Orchestra) are also both free and amazing VSTs to get you started, with practically everything you’d ever need as a beginner. The latter requires you to fill out an official survey to get for free, but it’s totally worth it.

I actually use strofe but It isnt that customizable.
Sunvox, FL studio are very good if you want to make hype or calm music. And maybe sad too
