Bookworm Corporation | Staff Handbook

We have put through some regulations for all staff personnel (Junior Librarian+ and Trainees at Trainings) to follow. Ensure you take your time with each one.

All of our Regulations go with the Roblox Terms of Service and our Community Code of Conduct. Obey and acknowledge both of them before reading this.

Professionalism

It is required to display utmost professionalism in all areas inside our Library. Whenever working or addressing other’s inquiries, stay mature and respectful throughout. We don’t want childish and disrespectful behaviors from our staff members. Therefore, we implemented professionalism into the list for all to note and abide by.

Grammar

We require grammar from every staff member here. This is to ensure all sentences and words are legible and readable by the community. You only need grammar inside of the library building and inside of the Training Center. If you ever make a grammar mistake, feel free to correct it. Our Management Team is there to assist you with grammar.

Due to our main language being English, it is important you follow the English grammar rules. You may use a translator to assist you. If you want an example of a difference, there will be one listed below.

In French, you don’t capitalize names and sometimes the nouns and verbs are placed in different places than English. As well, they have expressions that don’t exactly mean what they really are. Though in English, it’s the opposite. Hence, follow the English grammar rules.

Responsibility, Honesty, and Trustworthy

As a staff member, you are accountable for all the actions you partake in. We are not there to babysit you over what you do, so do your best to use common sense, play with maturity, etc. We don’t expect you to lie or not do what’s asked by a reader/management member. You will simply be demoted if you lie or do not act properly. Remember, being honest or truthful helps the situation more than you think. It’ll save you from bigger consequences.

Hinting

We know all of you would like to be promoted to the highest rank and some of you may want to ask someone to get the rank or publicly say “I’ll be the next Staff Assistant!” However, this is known as hinting: asking someone to get you to the next rank without effort, using excuses to help, etc. This won’t get you anywhere closer sadly, it’ll lower your chances instead. To prevent this, stay the way you are before, and feel free to use our Experienced Librarian Promotion Guide. (Coming Soon!)

Inside the Library

The following are what you should know when inside the library.

Greetings

Inside our library, you are expected to respond to inquiries from readers. When responding to questions from readers, answer them politely and respectfully. Though, you’ll need a greeting for this if working at the “SERVICE” counter. An example is shown below.

“Greetings, welcome to Bookworm’s Library! I’m Iamoldel, your librarian. how may I help you?”

A greeting should have the following components: a salutation (Hello!), a welcome (Welcome to Bookworm’s Library!), an introduction of yourself (this is optional) (I’m Iamoldel, your librarian OR I’m Iamoldel), and an inquiry (How may I help you?). A constructive greeting via these components looks like this:

“Hello! Welcome to Bookworm’s Library! I’m Iamoldel, your librarian. How may I help you?”

It is highly recommended you have a guide you can copy and paste from to efficiently paste your greeting without any grammar mistakes. This highly helps with your response time, we don’t want you standing there AFK. This is also what we look for in MR’s, the ability to process messages efficiently.

Answering Inquiries

As stated above, you respond to inquiries respectfully and politely. Execute the response to the best of your ability. If you have trouble, do contact a Management Member in our Discord, Group Wall, or in-game to assist. Feel free to ask your peers, as well!

If you want an example of how to execute one, let’s say they ask for where a bookshelf is. You get up and show them the bookshelf. They may ask for a recommendation of a book after you helped them. You then proceed to see the books, have a quick look through or you can from the title and gist of it.

Disruptive Customers

When a disruptive customer (troller) enters the library and starts causing disruptions such as:

  • Being Rude
  • Goofing off at the service counter
  • Annoying staff

To handle these people, issue a reminder at first telling them to stop. Continuation after that results in a warning. Only one warning can be given out, no more than that. An example of a formatted warning is shown below.

WI | Trolling

Trollers continuing after that must seek admin attention via the !help command. If none are in-game, contact one via our Discord (located on the group page) or Group Wall.

With exploiters/hackers, contact an administrator immediately with proof of actions if available. (Staff Assistant+) None in-game? It’s highly recommended you contact one via our communications server when you have proof of the situation. Otherwise, just address the situation on the group wall.

Conclusion

Acknowledgments for reading our guidelines and the handbook for staff! Please abide and obey these in any of our group centres. This was created by the Leadership Team of Bookworm Corporation. Further questions should be directed to Iamoldel or The Bookworm Corporation Leadership Team.
