Both the old and new (beta) terrain editor is missing the air material

Problem

This is a big issue for me since I use the source material air to fill in the gaps when working with water. Basically, the air material is missing from the replace source grid on the original terrain editor, and it’s missing completely from the new beta terrain editor (both paint and fill). Furthermore, the replace terrain functionality is missing from the beta terrain editor.

The beta features that I have enabled are as follows:

  • Assistant Preview
  • Material Generator
  • Material Picker
  • Notched Screen Support
  • Texture Generator
  • Updated Docking System

As for plugins, I have a bunch that are installed, but very few are enabled. The ones that are enabled are listed below with links to their details page on the Roblox store website:

Expectations

I expect the air material to be available for painting and replacement. I also expect that the replace material feature from the old terrain editor be available in the new beta terrain editor.

Visuals

The original terrain editor is missing the air material for the source.

The new beta terrain editor is missing the air material entirely, and it’s missing the replace material functionality.

Reproduction

To reproduce the issue, perform the following steps:

  1. Open Studio.
  2. Create terrain.
  3. Paint/Replace with terrain editor.
  4. Observe results.

@Focia19

I think this was probably an oversight. Because of the way water works in terrain, when doing anything around water involving the terrain, air pockets show up (especially with fractal textures like rock). So I use the replace terrain feature to fill in those air gaps with water. This is why the air material is pretty much required to be in the source materials list.

I should be able to turn on the change for this in two weeks.
