I had a random idea to retexture all of Roblox’s textures and make it look like an old NES game. I just wanted to see how it would look and feel. I had a question, can I get sued for this? I’m not releasing it for anything or stuff or using it for promotional purposes. So can I get sued for it?
It’s a grey area however as long as the textures don’t cheat the engine (making a head mesh texture to have a target in a PvP game, etc.) you should be okay.
Why in the world would you get sued for that? You won’t get sued for anything, unless you directly steal the textures. Even then, 99.9% of the time it would just get taken down. Don’t worry about it.
Yes, they probably they wouldn’t sue since they aren’t publishing it, however up to an account termination can be given for this. And knowing Roblox if they warn someone for harmless images I would be unsure what they would give for tampering with the game files.
So long as the textures give you no unfair advantages in games (cheating the engine, as ab said above), and you personally retexture them yourself, I could not see you getting sued for retexturing this. So, you should be fine! Especially if you are not releasing it.
Fair point. The gray area and main area of concern here, which cheeky could get in trouble for, would be tampering/messing with the game files. That may not sit well with some ROBLOX administrators, if found out, and could result in up to an account deletion. However, I find this unlikely to happen, as they are not releasing it for anything (as they stated above).
My friend was warned for uploading a decal called “the” with nothing on it; so I agree, you have a very fair point here. But, I still find it unlikely ROBLOX would do anything unless @cheekybones579 published it, which they are not doing. Keyword on your post: “For uploading a solid-green texture”. They are not uploading this.
