Cannot Play Roblox through Browser

Roblox attempts to do an install cycle via browser opening, and does not complete the install. The following error appears.

The Windows App Store version of Roblox also has this error sometimes:

Hitting Retry a bunch will eventually work.

Been experiencing this bug for: A MONTH

It is not easy. The only way I found a fix, is to use Run if you have windows.

Still, you can’t use any private server links or launch any games from the browser (sucks)

Fix:

  1. Open Run using WIN + R
  2. Copy this and paste it into run: roblox-player:1+launchmode:app+channel:production
  3. Press Enter. It should launch Roblox, as the app. (not windows store ver.)

Now, as long as you don’t use the website to launch it again, it will be fine.
Just open it manually on your computer, and you are okay.

The production channel does not exist. You should use LIVE instead

The ‘production’ channel worked for me. I will try using LIVE. I believe using LIVE is what crashes it for me.

EDIT: Crashed for me (whilst using LIVE) with this error:

it does

I think you need to install roblox from miscrosoft to play it from broswer.

the production channel is just the default name for LIVE in the client

you can see it doesn’t exist here (hence the 403)

if you look at the client on something like binary ninja (a binary analyzer), you can also see that roblox will set the channel name to %s (a custom channel name) or production (LIVE)

(something i forgot: im on LIVE and always get 2023-08-02T08:16:59.223Z,1.223206,1d18,6 [FLog::ClientRunInfo] The channel is production in my logs)
also, the reason why the launcher crashed while trying to switch the channel to LIVE is because the default channel is LIVE (but production will also point to LIVE)

Disable anti viruses and fire wall.

I don’t feel safe doing that. That is a workaround, not a proper fix. Someone needs to deploy a fix for this.

Are you trying to download roblox or launch it?

That has nothing to do with what is happening here. Even if it did, this is an extremely stupid thing to suggest doing.

Then suggest a better suggestion ;-;

Are you on the production channel? You should show what’s happening inside Roblox’s logs. They’re located at %localappdata%\Roblox\Logs. Sort by last modified, get the latest one for Player, and send just the first 20 lines or so of the file. Censor your Windows username if you need to.

Alright. I’ll search through the files and update this post when I find it.

Currently I use my run command to fix roblox from crashing each time I open it from the browser.

Heres the first 20 lines of the latest log (Keep in mind I did use my win+r command):

Oh, I just remembered it’s not going to be showing it fetching ClientSettings at the top of the log if it’s erroring out. Yeah, you’ll have to send the whole thing then. My bad.
