Change recordings made in roblox to MP4 or any other file that is not .WMV

The recorder output is being messed with as part of an A/B test that should be active as of the latest client version.

“It’s the Windows video recorder, for the test some Windows users have a new .mp4 recorder rather than the old .wmv recorder.”

The new MP4 is an improvement, it’s now 720p instead of 480p and the frame rate is approximately 30 instead of 20! Definitely better than wmv format!!
I still wish the cursor would show up in the videos with Roblox recorder like it did a long time ago!

This is a big improvement, though I’ve hoped for the recorder to record videos in full native resolution (or at least 1080p) and also at 60FPS. I hope we can get that next. It would also be awesome if we can get customization options and the ability to select the place or folder to store video recordings at.

a bug with the new mp4 recorder is that some sounds doesnt get played/is quiet in some games for some reason when reviewing your footage

Can you provide more information about the audio device you are using? We think this may be an issue with certain audio output devices.

The audio capture logic has not changed in the mp4 encoder so we also believe this may be an existing issue with the wmv encoder, rather than a new bug with the mp4 encoder.

RealTek and OMEN are the audio devices I am using.

Bump because roblox should already have mp4 by default and stop terrorising their developers

As mentioned earlier in the thread, this is already the case.

Too bad that it still got bad quality and frame rate. It still is useless to me for this reason. I don’t see any reason to limit the resolution or bitrate and the frame rate, if it’s to trade for lower storage footprint then I guess it’s a bad tradeoff. Most people wouldn’t use a recorder that record videos in that low of quality and frame rate.

It was still significantly improved (courtesy of Sharkblox, maybe it’s been improved even further recently):

It’s definitely better than before, no doubt, but it went from terrible to bad.
