because of this issue they are limiting us (developers and users) (who give them money) the ability of making our projects like we want.
its not that difficult to add a lightning technology based on voxel engine
that replicates legacy because compatibility was running on voxel engine so they had absolutely no reasons to remove it other than annoy us and not giving a proper replacement to it
and the same issue happens with bloom we don’t want to have one post processing effect that affects ALL of our objects emitting glow (neon, lights) there should be an effect that affects lights, one that affects neon’s and one for both (the current bloom we have)
if they allowed to add a blur effect to the material, then it would be possible to reproduce the old neon, based on the Roadmap there are no major graphics updates planned this year, we can only hope
i don’t even understand why we cannot blacklist some instances from the post processing effects such as bloom, color correction. and yes they should add the ability for post processing effects inside parts or others instances to just behave on its parent
Looking at the images in a paint program, and aligning to account for the size difference, and using the Difference blend mode, all i see is no difference except for the outlines, but that is due to anti-aliasing and processing artifacts i assume. The water also seems to have exactly the same color.
The water’s material being a little scuffed is (i think) simply a result of the material having its offset randomized, but that has nothing to do with lighting technology.
Correct me if i’m wrong.
(months late, i know)
Add the brightness clamp back! Otherwise I’m going to be extremely mad because everything is bright in my game and you ruined my game with this, add brightness clamp back and then I’ll be happy, please dude that’s all I ask!
I have used compatibility in almost every single game I have ever made since Legacy was removed and ROBLOX is over here removing everything from the past such as legacy chat and the old xbox menu on consoles. They use the word deprecating as a way to make everyone feel less mad.
they wont. they do not care about users that liked simplier graphics. Ive been asking for years to get neons OUT of the bloom effect they wont do anything, same goes for old neons i want them to add an effect that replicates them, Compatibility was supposed to be a 1:1 recreation of legacy that was running on the same engine as voxel, i dont understand why they didnt add ALL the features of legacy in it.
bro this company is literally a joke, no wonder their stocks are going down and they wonder why like I literally can’t make my dancefloor for my club game SINCE THE DANCEFLOOR GOES BRIGHT REGARDLESS! I’M EXTREMELY IRRITATED BRO! THANKS A LOT ROBLOX! YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR DEVELOPERS IM SO DONE WITH THIS PLATFORM!
JUST ADD BRIGHTNESS CLAMPING BACK! THATS ALL YOU NEED TO DO!
Add brightness clamping back, you guys have ruined my game! It’s either too dark, or too bright I’m extremely IRRITATED because of this UPDATE. I can’t even work on my dancefloor BECAUSE YOU RUINED IT. I don’t even wanna make games on this trash platform
Dude look at your feedback and revert the update! Or add brightness clamping back, thanks for ruining my game dude it means a lot I SPENT 2 YEARS ON IT. Now I don’t even wanna continue on it because the dancefloor is too bright, or too dark, dude I’m so irritated at you guys RIGHT NOW! REVERT THE UPDATE PLEASE! OR ADD BRIGHTNESS CLAMPING BACK, PLEASE!
well, hopefuly roblox feels better about themselves because what am i supposed to do now?
legacy, compatibility isnt in studio anymore (well you can still force compatibility but still)
great job making users mad and sad.
and also it just made the games look more realistic imo, old materials were actually better
yeah ik that compatibility is yet possible to have in live experiences i wont say how or they will patch it but its simple
the new lighting update makes it impossible to force compatibility, so yeah, it will be fixed this year. we will say goodbye to compatibility forever.
(Let There Be (Unified) Light! Unified Lighting Enters Studio Beta)
It is possible to return old materials yourself, but you will need a little ingenuity, the ideal look will not be achieved, but something similar is possible.
(Help with recreate old plastic material)
it was nice while it lasted, im pretty much over the removal of compatibility but it was a fun thing you could do
it’s possible that Roblox can add something with this, maybe even the old lighting(?)
they wont they dont give a shete about their legacy… and they dont care about us developers that need these older graphics…
There’s always an excuse on how it’s holding back new features (we can’t move on because of …) or how these are apparently flawed or incorrect (there was a bug where …) and can no longer be sustained xD
