Convert a Meshpart into a Union?

Hello there,

I have been wanting to take advantage of the new performances on live union operations, to be able to cut through these assets.

But I have to go back to stone age, and build with union operation, not through classic 3D modeling.
I’m very used to this method, because of the old days. But it hurts my productivity, and the overal quality of my assets.

Of course, everything must be a closed volume, unlike the meshpart’s little fuzz.
Unioning to obtain organic shapes with smoothness, is nearly impossible.

I would like to know if there is a way to somehow generate a Union, from the informations of mesh ?
Even obscure plugins or dark arts formats, would be a delightfull finding .

Thanks !

Unfortunately there’s no way, Unions are similar to meshparts, meaning they are cloud assets and trying to convert a meshpart simply is impossible or extremely hard to do. If you really want the more “blocky” look of those specific hay packs, just use angled parts to make a cylinder. Or wedges.

Look into the smoothing angle property

Not yet, but CSG operations with Meshes are planned to release this year. I assume that’s what you’re trying to achieve here?

(I’m not sure if this covers meshparts)

Oh I missed this information this is good news !
I am only looking to know if some obscure ways to convert meshparts into union operations, whatever the method does exist.

Like gathering data as point cloud and performing an auto CSG thing to recreate the mesh .

I guess I’m just going to be patient thx !

Oh whaat, smoothing angle !
Thanks for the pair of glasses, I was blind and missed that one
