Still getting over the fact that ROBLOX is expecting people to verify with government issued photo id.
I have a complex question and Iâm not sure how it can be answered.
I have been wanting to create various effects and/or environments that depict high saturation and complex patterns. there may also be situations that do not make sense such as imps dancing around a bonfire while the color of the world changes gradually. I have been worried that this could be interpreted as drug use as it could be seen as psychedelic. my intention with this would be to create a âvivid dreamâ game and not a mushroom simulator.
would labelling such a game as 17+ provide leniency on this subject or would it still be too difficult to work with without breaking guidelines?
So, will these -certain countries- players get a separate warning for this where there is a login button?
Will developers residing in these countries be affected?
Utter B.S Response, but expected as usual, (lol), anyways tell me why NSFW sites dont enforce ID Verification? Literal NSFW Sites donât do this meanwhile a very paranoid âââgameâââ" company is enforcing non existent users to verify their IDs to see roblox gore, not even steam does it, all it has is a simple warning and it works! Since if steam gets in trouble theyâll just say âThe user has fully agreed to put their birth date and consent to see violent gamesâ, which is correct! If an underage user fully ignores warnings, thatâs up to them not roblox.
Besides If I wanna simulate gambling, I can just go on VRChat without sending my biometrics.
This is not a sign that Roblox is growing or evolving. Why do you want to âforceâ authenticate players? Seriously, what parent under 18 would want to share their ID card with a company like this?
-Security problems-
Do you know what the main security problem is? Share your ID card with any person!
I donât see how the point of unmonitored ugc content gives rights to roblox aging up the platform?
Anyways, although it is true that it is up to the parent for their childâs safety on the internet, there are only so many ways for the parent to protect them, and if Roblox advertises safety through age restrictions, with a free and open UGC created experience market, what to say they wonât have their game as âAll Agesâ and have 17+ content in it?
I just donât see the incentive to make a game with the potential for such a small audience. You look at the 17+ player base on Roblox is already small but it becomes an even smaller percentage when you require users to verify with ID. I really think they should keep 17+ as the other age recommendations on Roblox, as RECOMMENDATIONS.
I honestly donât even get what the point of banning casino/gambling games is. There are already a lot of âgamblingâ games on roblox, aka simulators with lootboxes.
Coincidentally came out a day after my 18th birthday
THIS IS HUUUGEEE! feels like a step in a really good direction for creativity for all audiences on roblox
Hello, I was just curious if following this update we will be seeing a change to the current age status in the ui.
If you look here I got the a message about the 17+, however on the sidebar navigation (top left) it says â13+â
Since Iâm verified and over 17+ like many people here, wouldnt it make sense to change the â13+â to â17-18+â on that side bar, please see second image for what I mean:
I think this change in some way shape or form needs to be implemented to prevent obseleteness in this small feature on the site currently related to current updates.
Can i put b*er in my games? That would be awesome
I honestly donât see that big of a change. Thereâs already gorey games on roblox, but youâre saying they can be even more realistic now. How realistic can it even get, like come on , itâs not like the platform could handle extremely realistic blood and such, we all know how good the servers are. And we also all know what the âmatureâ community of roblox really wants⌠I can tell you itâs not a red cup that supposedly has alcohol in it.
I would say Iâm disappointed, but I guess it does open some doors for people.
I mean then again, it also opens the doors to playing potentially in games with more mature people, what Im curious about is if non 17+ games can be listed as 17+ to restrict unverified people that are younger or do not meet the standard required age to play these games similar to vc, or have exclusive server teleports to play with more mature people for users that do meet the requirements. This update will seeminglessly get rid of 100s of thousands of bot accounts in these games too, not to mention it will most likely create a richer experience for those in these age groups, as playing with inmature young kids at times can be quite a hassle or rather discomforting. So, Iâll leave it there, but yeah I think itâs a major change.
So I could have a game where youâre in a party and youâre drinking alcohol and playing beer pong but I canât have profanity, this doesnât make sense to me.
I could have a combat based game where you can shoot people with a shotgun and it makes a huge cloud of blood and you can see blood gushing out of where he got shot, but if the guy who got shots plays a sound effect with profanity or a speech bubble of profanity appears above his head THAT is whatâs against TOS?
I understand this update is coming out in sequences (and strong language is going to be enabled in the future) but it feels like itâs coming out in a strange order. I feel like profanity shouldâve been released before all the gore and alcohol stuff, like in the questionnaire you could have like âProfanity Light/Heavyâ and have the light option be for 13+ and the heavy be for 18+ or something. I donât know, something like that wouldâve made more sense to get released first. In my opinion this update shouldâve gotten rolled out in a way that the more intense stuff gets allowed in games last and the milder stuff (like profanity) gets released first.
I do not want to talk about moderation as my other posts got taken down due to it, but I want to say that this is not completely true as moderation still works.
Then the game will get moderated, simple.
im finding few <8 years of age making 17+ games.
One solution to this could be like to not allow people to verify if they were previously lying about their accounts age.
Example: Letâs say you were like 13 or something and it said that on your account as birth date, all the sudden you go to verify and you verify as your 50 year old dad, this alone should be enough of a redflag to detect that people are lying about age.
More over I think people caught lying about age should be permanently blacklisted from ever verifying their account age, it sounds harsh but if roblox is taking this route probably no other choice.
Thatâs on Roblox, because they said:
I mean couldnât this be a solution or step in the right direction
