Creator Store: Buy and Sell Plug-Ins with Real-World Currency

Terrible update/changes.

Not all people like me attach their payment to their account just to be safe, but this? It looks like forcing people to put in their payment now unless they decide to stick the filling out the payment form.

Can we just include the Robux Payment method option instead of real-life currency? It’s much easier to purchase using Robux.

Also, I’ll be honest, this is another great way to earn creators’ money. I personally not a fan of this change.

Why it is not possible to add buy for robux and world currency??? This would be the best solution but complaining about this update won’t help because roblox doesn’t listen to the community

What’s the ETA for this fix? https://www.roblox.com/transactions started showing sales for free plugins from 4/15 to 4/16 then stopped suddenly. Is there a reason why it started and stopped so abruptly?

roblox: removing 70% of the plugins on the creator page update

I absolutely hate this update, no more buying plugins easily I guess.

Hi everyone,

In line with our goal to continue making the Creator Store more accessible for as many people as possible, creators ages 13-17 can now sell on the Creator Store by having a parent/guardian sign up on their behalf via the connected Stripe form.

  1. A parent/guardian will need to review and agree to the Creator Store terms.
  2. Parent/Guardian (18+) information must be entered on the Stripe form.

Thank you!

It’s hard to convince parents/guardians to buy stuff with Stripe (or other payment providers), Roblox has built up it’s reputation with Robux, and now we’re switching to Stripe all of a sudden?

What will happen with Roblox giftcards? Can we get a refund of them since this update, because they are basically now useless. What’s the process of doing that? (at least who purchase gift cards for robux for plugins)

I say this, with all of the respect in the world, I say this from a family that doesn’t believe is spending money on an online platform (or game), and will rather spend on Robux gift cards then anything else. I’m more then willing to communicate with y’all and figure if need be.

Well, for those who can convince their parents to do this for them, good luck and I wish y’all the best.

Roblox already uses Stripe to handle its purchases. See: https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/203312560-Adding-and-Updating-Payment-Information#:~:text=Stripe%20and%20Xsolla%20are%20the,card%20information%20for%20future%20purchases.

(It’s worth noting that Stripe is one of the largest payment providers on the internet, but you just aren’t aware that you’re using Stripe because it doesn’t embed its branding as other payment providers do)

These Terms and Conditions better be solid because the amount of kids that will lie with this is unbelievable. Parents are already hesitant to spend money on Roblox (a multi-billion dollar corporation), so what makes you think they want to spend it on Stripe.

They already do. Roblox purchases use Stripe.

We’re talking about implementation with the Roblox website. Parents might trust roblox.com more than Stripe’s website.

Then tell your parents that Roblox already uses Stripe. If they don’t trust the domain, the kid can just tell them that nothing changed.

You underestimate the stupidity of our elders.

Why are you all hating on this update? Is it that bad to be less taxated? There are very few reasonable points against this, and the two big ones (age and country limitations) are being solved by Roblox. (Age is mostly solved)

It’s been almost 3 weeks, any updates regarding this? Is there a fixed date now? If not, how much estimated time is left? I want to start selling on the Creator Store.

Even though kids are able to make stripe accounts through their parents, many parents don’t want to link anything connecting to their bank to Roblox especially considering the many examples of random kids spending all of their parents money on robux. Also it doesn’t change the fact that this brings sales down by so much because the minimum price is still ridiculous especially for people who have created mid-tier plugins that deserve to be paid for but aren’t worth 5 dollars.

The only real solution is bringing back robux. If they don’t then I will probably just leave because Roblox clearly isn’t listening to what we really need and instead is coming up with insufficient “solutions” that only help some people but allow them to wipe their hands, say they dealt with it, and move on ignoring the rest of us who still don’t have any sort of solution.

Many people here are confused about why we are complaining about this, but the majority of those people are people who can or will soon be able to actually participate in this update.

To expand this comment even further, there’s actually been a Good morning america story about this, Mom shares lessons learned after son spends over $800 on Roblox purchases - Good Morning America (yes you can set a limit, but with plugins and usd, that limit can be easily hit just by buying one plugin, so it’s basically not worth it)

Imagine that with USD, that could be pretty dangerous when not supervised properly, and imagine if your paying like $5-100 for plugins, like let’s be honest, not everybody makes a stable and reliable income, and some places might be poor then others. Robux was a good marketing stragey for people to buy more, and for USD, some people that don’t have enough money get declined by their guardian (was me at one point).

A robux option would be nice… don’t really see the point in using real currency when I already earned robux which can technically be exchanged into real currency (takes a while)…

Agree! Devex takes about 4 days for me , 5 days in one case, but still it is spending way more robux than you really need to, and for me robux may not be too much of a problem, but on the other hand USD is and is much harder to come by than robux , I’m sure this is the same for many other small devs.

This right here! Most small developers are already struggling, and the fact that it’s USD makes it worst. USD is not as easy to come by as robux in the real world. I do agree developers should be paid 100% of the profit they made but Roblox should’ve just given them all the robux or atleast add an option for robux. This hurts small developers the most, no plugin is worth $5 max , and imo not even $2 in USD.
