Criticism Needed PLZ

Hello, I’m building a obby like game, and came upon this very empty/plain wall. The entire thing is supposed to be underground, so I have no idea what to add other than just making it look rigid for a bit of texture. The floor is also pretty plain. I’m trying to keep the style where everything is smooth plastic, but even if I did change the material, it would probably still look plain.

Do you have a suggestion on what detail I can add or things to change? FYI, I don’t plan to change the middle part where all the weird squares are.

You can add a few random rock formations around the walls to make it less plain. Although, the wall doesn’t really look too bad to me. The real question is, what is with the floor?

Add a some swinging axes somewhere, it will make it look nice.

I agree, also since it is underground some swinging pickaxes or falling rocks could be interesting

I actually plan to do that but at a different place

The floor moves and makes more parkour, I would go in more detail, but I don’t want to leak to much of my game, lol.

I think you should make the floor look a little more varied, as the squares look a bit too repetitive

still looks repetitive?

Not as much anymore, but still a little. Maybe try making it different shapes and sizes (if that is possible, I don’t know your game idea).

The place is very pleasing to the eye but apart from that, the fact that most of the walls seem plain looks fine since a lot of obbys don’t hold to much detail on the walls, especially since it is so large and open. You could place different objects along the place to attract interest (some vegetation on some rocks or plants growing on the walls could work and more etc.).

Place different objects that’ll match the setting, but still maintain a simple design, however I feel like the top area could feature stalagmites. The underground place looks pretty well made, but there’s just a few objects missing. Like I said before the walls don’t need much so it doesn’t look too cluttered with different parts a few objects would make it look more interesting.

Other than that, it’s looking good. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yeah some vegetation could add variety but not too much because I think the simple wall looks good too

Hey, I personally think that you wouldn’t need that much detail on the walls except if you add like ‘branches’ on the ground along the wall until it fits the layer of the wall.

Another suggestion apart from that; You could make a little platform out of wood that looks like some sort of base or “accommodation” if you get what I mean. That design would fit the obby design while it is somewhere around the walls, just to make it look fancier :)!

Thank you for the thought out response, if I can find some way of adding the things you said, I definitely will.

not sure what you mean by the “wooden plank platform”.

Just do that, which you could try doing low-poly. Put some little house or furnitures behind, place some humanoid and add an animation where they swing their legs or gaze at somewhere or stuff.

You could imagine this like as if the obby was part of the “accommodation” but actually isn’t because the obby isn’t leading to that plate / platform.

Oh, I get what your saying; maybe I will add some places where players can relax or maybe add a feeling like someone was living there.

Exactly!

You could always add darker sections where the obby is harder and lighter sections are easier. This would just diverse up your colour scheme while also playing a practical role.

However, this doesn’t need much criticism as it is a very nice style and looks very good!

You could add a texture to the wall, like an ancient pattern or something like that. Be creative

The room feels empty, maybe add some nice static objects around to give a pop to the place? Other than that looks pretty cool!
