When trying to duplicate part of a model, and then instantly dragging it to a new location via Alt-Drag, it now selects the ‘pass through’ of a single block (the new Alt-Click behaviour) rather than allow a drag of the actually currently selected item.
This was not the case before the new Alt-Click functionality and as a builder it is a notable (albeit small) issue as it can ruin a selection state/ cause extra duplicated objects without knowing
(In the example below, the 3 pots are grouped together, so a manual part selection is required to select only 1 pot, but this happens regardless of model selection or not, however you’d use Alt-Drag mainly for the sake of models)
If the Duplicated selection is first dragged out with the move tool, then Alt-Dragged, it moves the whole selection like normal (the old behaviour)
It could be fixed if this ‘pass-through’ selection functionality as a feature could be shortcut bounded to a different key aswell, but my search in the shortcuts didn’t have it as a thing I could change.
It is also my understanding that various ‘building’ and selection related features are in beta, but I am very familiar (and fast/used to) the current workflow prior to this addition. It’s generally tricky to work around it and can ruin rather specific selections sometimes
Expected behavior
When doing the operation:
- Select parts within a model or in general (Alt-Drag, or Ctrl-Alt-Click, Drag)
- Duplicate (Ctrl-D)
- Then Attempting to drag out the duplicate (Alt-Drag)
It should drag the duplicate out
It instead only selects a single block and drags that out which doesn’t seem intentional
