I would like to propose something that would change the way people look at ROBLOX as a platform.
If we introduced custom Bump Mapping textures to developers, games would no longer look the same and this would be a large step forward into the future of what this great company is turning into. Allowing developers to upload their own Bump Map textures would mean more immersive games and a more professional atmosphere when it comes to who plays our games. Currently, we only have limited mapping textures that are becoming very overused and default. Giving the developers this power would mean endless possibilities.
I hope you will give this suggestion a chance, as I think this is a much needed update.

This has been suggested a few times before, you can use the search feature in the top-right to find similar threads before posting.
If you take a look at these posts, staff members have said that this feature will not be released for a while (definitely not this year, and probably not for a while after that either), but they think that it will happen at some point in the future:

Also, make sure to move this to the proper sub-category in Feature Requests (in this case, client features: #feature-requests:client-features).

Its been said that creating an optimization system for it takes a long a time or its just really difficult with the current limitations of the roblox platform, thats the reason they are putting it off

I don’t suppose for those that aren’t as knowledge in this area of game dev, you could explain what bump mapping is please? I googled and it seems just like it’s a regular texture?
Its basically a texture that the gives the computer the illusion that its 3d (by reacting to shadows and light as if its 3d)

Oh right, whereas a texture is just treated like a picture that’s repeated, light actually reacts to what the picture shows to create a “3D” bumping effect
