Custom Developer Analytics

Motivation: As a Roblox developer, I find it challenging to effectively collect, track, access, and analyze specific game data and insights that are crucial for informed decision-making. The discontinuation of the PlayFab program has further compounded this issue.

How It Would Improve My Development Experience: The introduction of Custom Developer Analytics on Roblox would significantly enhance my development experience. This feature would enable me to:

  1. Customize Metrics: Choose specific data points that are relevant to my game, such as player behavior, monetization trends, or game performance indicators. This would provide me with invaluable insights to improve my game.
  2. Visualize Data: Generate interactive charts and graphs to better understand trends, thereby enabling me to make informed decisions and optimize game content.
  3. Data Filters: Apply custom filters and time periods to refine the data, allowing me to compare, segment, and analyze data according to my game’s unique needs.
  4. Knowledge Sharing: Share my data insights within the Roblox Developer Forum discussions, fostering collaboration and innovation within the developer community.

Use Cases:

  1. Game Balancing: Custom analytics would assist in fine-tuning gameplay elements, adjusting difficulty levels, and enhancing user experience based on player data.
  2. Monetization Strategies: Analyzing revenue data would enable developers to optimize in-game purchases, advertisements, and virtual goods sales.
  3. Player Retention: Tracking user engagement metrics would help identify factors that contribute to player retention and user churn.

The implementation of Custom Developer Analytics in Roblox would empower developers to create more successful and engaging games, foster a sense of community, and promote innovation. While I’m unsure if this is already on the roadmap, I believe it’s a crucial feature that would greatly benefit the Roblox developer community.

What ‘Custom Developer Analytics’ means in this sense is extremely broad. The PlayFab program had many different features available. Are you asking for a query language, similar to Microsoft’s Kustro, event-based analytics, custom events, or so on?

For what it’s worth they’ve also recently updated the roadmap adding some features similar to those:

thank you for your concern i’ll edit my feature request to be more specific and concise

It is worth noting that as of currently; most analytics in the creator dashboard may not be shared with any third-parties.

If I could create my own graphs like minute 1 engagement (shows % of players that play each second up to a minute) for one group, I could make my retention so much better by trying out different methods to make people for example understand my game better. Same for the other types.
