Default GamePad Control Scheme Improvements

So I noticed ROBLOX added native ‘default’ gamepad support (play any game with standard controls in) I picked up my 360 controller earlier and it worked. However, I have some feedback I’d like to share as well as ideas/improvements being a vivid controller fanfic I am. Remember, this is the default settings/binds if a developer hasn’t changed any buttons to specific things already.

Red lines represent the button doesn’t do anything currently, as you can see it’s very basic and isn’t really that good. The camera controls just rotate it, sorry folks, no zoom :frowning:

I’d also like to say if an XBOX controller is plugged in you can change the stick sensitivity in the menu options, currently the camera sensitivity is very high.

Why should the default be changed?
Because that way, any game you can jump on right in with a controller. You can currently but not all the keys are being utilized. This would enable playing older ROBLOX games that the developer has perhaps left/abandoned improving functionality even more.

What about controller?
I’m assuming you mean a PS3 controller? If by that it can follow a similar layout, they both have similar if not the exact same button layout anyway.

I want to be able to zoom the camera with a controller.

My suggestion is when you hold down the left stick, you can zoom with the right stick.

I think those are good. I also think a lot of it should be up to the game developer to script in though. I’d rather have a blank slate to work on than have to override a bunch of default controls to get things to work how I want. I guess if there were some flags to enable/disable it then it would be fine too.

Currently, clicking the right stick is a toggle between first person and 10 studs zoom, but woe is unto you if your computer has ghost mousewheel inputs like mine. In my own controls, I have the right stick click act as a switch for zoom, swapping out the vertical axis while it is held.

I didn’t realise that, I kept feeling I missed a button or two to try :frowning: a simple fix to keep this in (if needed) would be double click the right stick.

This is handy for people who can’t script. It gives a default controller scheme to every game just to enable controller input. (roleplay games and a lot of front page games anyone?) The devs can already change the buttons
