$14,000* USD still a lot though.
1M is $3500, 40M is $140,000. It’s $140k, not $14k. I second guessed myself as well too lol.
No, it is 140k. 40e6 * 0.0035 = 140k
Oh, I thought it was 4 Mil not 40 mil, my bad
Roblox playing it risky by not posting this by the @Roblox account. How would they not think this post would cause controversy with it being a 40 million Robux requirement. Oh, but let’s not focus on that. Imagine valuing developers who bring in 140,000 USD at about maybe $200-300 worth of clothing that probably wouldn’t be worn as it has absolutely no relation to our actual real-life values, or tastes. Who’s idea was this? Why not focus on giving small developers incentive to spend their time on this platform, reward people who are actively creating cool, attractive, and awesome games?
I’ve keep coming back to this idea that Roblox’s only care is money, there is no actual focus on developers. What has happened Roblox? When are you going to start focusing on your actual developer base? Not the people who are making thousands, maybe even millions off your DevEx program? They’ve made it, they have successful games – help motivate your smaller developers to reach this goal.
Oh, maybe you could start focusing on your captcha system? You know – that thing that 95% of people take almost 3-5 minutes completing, and that I can only imagine how difficult is for smaller kids.
low-key roblox you keep finding ways to annoy me.
I’d just like to bring up a point I don’t think anyone else as mentioned yet? I could be wrong.
I know 40 Million Robux is a lot and it’s a hard amount to get but it is possible and a lot of developers have made that amount. I’m not sure on the exact amount but I’m sure 5k+ people have made that amount of Robux over time. Now think of it this way, Roblox is giving every person and their developers a Swag Bag… 5K*3 = 15k… That’s a lot of Swag Bags to fill and ship out you know? If they made the achievement smaller then it would be far too hard to ship to that many people.
This is just my opinion on the situation, I could be wrong. Although they did say the other Milestones won’t be Robux based meaning they could be based of Visits or Group members which is awesome!
Not gonna lie, can’t wait to put that Studio Jacket on
You literally just contradicted yourself. By Incentive, I mean something to motivate new developers to work harder in order to reach the goal, along with DevEx. Once you do get it, it’s a token of appreciation from Roblox for the good work you’ve done.
hmm I seem to only be half way towards the 40 mil goal
I’m a little confused on one thing. Is this calculation of 40M done based on November 2019 to now? Is it January 2020 to now? Is it only calculated in January of every year? Is it just automatically triggered and you’re sent some stuff on whatever day you obtain over 40M?
Keep it up buddy, you’ll get there! I’m not 100% sure if this reward will continue or if it’s limited time but I’m sure there will be plenty more opportunities in the future!
My guess is from 2018 Jan → 2020 Jan, then next year it will be 2018 Jan → 2021 Jan, etc.
That’s the way they made it seem like anyway, although they were pretty vague on the matter and I do wish they posted a follow-up Q&A as there are many questions regarding exact details.
Ah yes, reward already rich people with swag. Nice.
Oh damn. This has made me decide that I am now going to go out an earn 140K USD a year. Good incentive. Didn’t have the drive to earn 40 million robux a year, but this now gives me a real reason to earn 6 figures. Just look at those socks. Only people with 6 figure salaries should be allowed to wear something like that.
I hope ya’ll can gather this is sarcasm Really poor effect tbh. They saw what happened when a star creator shows off their merch, which they seem to get several times throughout the year, and decided that only the top 0.0000001% of developers should get merch too, cause those 0.0000001% are what drive the community. We’ll give them less merch tho, and it’s only a one time thing. Star creators can continue to get their monthly merch and Xbox’s sent out to them for free. Where would Roblox be without these amazing star creators. I dread to imagine. They do so much for the platform. Us developers are forever greatful for them. Without them, games like Adopt Me, Bloxburg and many more would fail to exist and make the kind of money they make. Thank you star creators. You are all amazing
More sarcasm
this must be the single-most expensive brand-bag in the history of forever, the hell are those requirements? also; money only? good luck to anyone that’s not just a scumbag dev, is what i say to that
If this wave doesn’t apply to you, hopefully the next waves will?
I don’t understand how people can complain when Roblox is literally offering these as rewards/gifts for certain milestones. They could’ve given us nothing tbh.
This is interesting but, developers should be awarded on reaching certain visits or maybe likes/favorites or number of active players. Amount of Robux, in my opinion, shouldn’t be the criteria.
As for awards, I think a Roblox trophy or a 3D Roblox sign (Red,Blue,Gold) would be awesome.
it is Robox, as in, Roblox Xbox type console
I’ve been waiting for something like this for years! Thank you DevRel. I think the only question I’m looking to get addressed is how this works for groups with multiple devs. Is the 40M calculated per game, per group, per account, per what? And if per game, will one “game” only get one set of the merch and have to share it amongst all devs in a group/working for that game? Once again, thanks for doing this!
P.S. What if there was a lower merch bag for the 20M robux milestone?
I mean, I think the stuff looks neat but tbh I wouldn’t publicly wear any of it. Plus I don’t wear hats.
Honestly I’d prefer virtual goods, a profile reskin, something that displays the milestone to users.
Even better, I’d say give these “milestone” developers more of the money they already earned from reaching that point anyway.
I’m not trying to be ungrateful and simply getting something is already something to be thankful for but I’d probably just use the witches brew (cup I assume?). Isn’t 40M+ for the first milestone a bit much or is it just me?
Really I think virtual goods are better unless you’re shipping a gaming rig to me lol I only wear straight colored t-shirts and jeans
This is incredible, I’m glad to see this amazing new program supporting developers for their milestones they achieve. While 40M robux does feel like quite a lot, I wouldn’t complain if it’s the hardest one to achieve, I do enjoy a challenge as it is definitely motivating me to keep working harder on my future projects!
On a side note:
I absolutely love how everything looks, great job to the designers and everyone who put this together, I assume not just I, but many other developers are extremely grateful for this program! I do hope that phase 2 is more easily achievable for developers, looks like a sword and something covered in the Roblox Developer/Studio logo?? And for phase 3, I do hope that it is what I’m thinking it might be; perhaps trophies for hitting multiple milestones like 1M visits, 50M visits, et cetera? If it is, then I do wonder if it would be for a developer’s achievements or a game’s achievements that the developer made. If so, that would be sick!
It states here that the data is only available since 2018, is this for Roblox or for us? I’m able to view up until November 2016 on the Developer Stats page, and using the .CSV excel spreadsheets we are given the ability to export, I can view all of my game’s revenue up from the time I first made a purchase (March 2016) until today. I do have a game that has earned almost 40M, but only ~20M since January 2018. Does this mean that I will be almost good to go or will I have to earn 20M more from January 2018? And is this requirement for our gross revenue or after tax?
Since the system is fully automated, would we get the email with the form on the day we reach 40M lifetime Robux or at the beginning of every year? Or is the beginning of the year when the awards are sent out if we are already signed up before the date?
Thank you! Even though I’m not one to care much for clothing and accessories, I’m incredibly grateful and this definitely goes a long way and I’m excited to see what is next!
