Devforum links are moderated

Reproduction Steps
Currently, as of 11/25/21, links to the developer forums are moderated. This makes it impossible to provide links to changelogs, attributions, and more in a game’s description. It makes the point of the bulletin board somewhat moot.

How to reproduce:

  1. Edit a game’s description in studio & attempt to add a link to a post on the bulletin board, here on the devforums.
  2. Observe that the settings failed to save, due to the description being moderated:

Expected Behavior
It is expected that links to Roblox’s developer forums are not moderated.

Actual Behavior
Links to Roblox’s developer forums are moderated.

I can confirm this issue. When editing the game page from studio, devforum links are moderated.

You can add them from the website, and it should work.

Actually, this is not true. Simply trying to change a description to only a link to a bulletin devforum post will get you this on the website. This has been happening for at least a week now:

EDIT: I looked into it a bit more and it seems the filter doesn’t like hyphens in links because this works:

https://devforum.roblox.com/t/penthouse/1554135

but this does not:

I tried to share my portfolio on my Roblox profile once and it didn’t work, simple fix for this though!

Instead of this:
https://devforum.roblox.com/t/open-experienced-clothing-designer/1379277/6

Remove the URL slug (section that contains the title of your post) and then it should work fine. The link is still fully functional since the post ID is still included in the link.

Looks a little something like this:
https://devforum.roblox.com/t/1379277/6

Still pretty frustrating, though. Roblox should look into this problem, still.

Roblox likely picks up the post title in the url as something that should be moderated and counts the whole link as moderated.

Just use - instead of the post title, for example:

https://devforum.roblox.com/t/-/1564262

No need for any slug at all, just use /t/123 syntax as the post above yours.

Just remove the dashes/hyphens from your devforum link, and it should work.

You can even remove the whole section where it has the name in the link.

This is an example of a DevForum link that will not get moderated:
https ://devforum.roblox.com/t/1565110

No dashes/hyphens in it.

i agree to this, remove the text in the link and it should not be moderated.

Thanks for the report! We’ll follow up when we have an update for you.

Just do this instead.

I think they should remove the devforum link tagging from both safechat and 13+ filters. Makes no sense for there to be a filter on an official roblox link.

Hi, are there any updates for this? This is still an issue as of 6/30/22.

Hello, it is 7/1/2022 and this is now happening again. Bumping this old thread because I don’t have permission to start a new one!

I have a link to a devforum topic on my game’s description, and I’m blocked from updating it.

Here’s my game, Slither Simulator

Here’s the topic I’m trying to link to in my description, it’s posted under Bulletin Board

When you go to my game you’ll see the link is still there in the description. But I’m blocked from updating the game’s description unless I remove the link.

After we fix it again, this time let’s add a Unit Test that will verify this condition when someone modifies the RegEx responsible for denying the update.

Similar thing here. July 30 in JST was when I put this in game’s description.

This one is in Japanese.

But this one is in English.

English one was done via translation.

Reproduction Steps

Doesn’t matter on what browser you are on, if you to and edit any game’s description and you add any roblox devforum post link (example Minerblocks Update Log)

It won’t let you save the link into the game description saying a error message “Inappropriate game title or description”. This will not let any developers to add their update logs using an roblox devforum post link into their game’s description.

Expected Behavior

If there was nothing wrong with it like how it was for years now, it wouldn’t tell you “Inappropriate game description or title” and it would just save the roblox devforum links into the description just like it supposed to.

Actual Behavior

Roblox description and title moderation bot doesn’t let you to have any links into your game’s description, but this caused the problem of developers not being able to add their devforum posts about their games and projects for the community to read and learn into their game’s description.

Workaround

Ideally, how this should be fixed is that roblox should whitelist all roblox devforum links allowing the developers to add again their posts about their games into their game description.

Thanks for the reports all - just wanted to quickly flag this and say the team is actively investigating.

Thanks for the update! Looking forward to hearing the results of the investigation

Sounds great, this is really annoying especially for developers that have created an update log on a devforum post and they want to add it into their game’s description.

I would like to add that this is happening to my group. When I try to add a DevForum post to my group’s description I get an error. When I do not include the link, it saves without error.
