Giving the forum some ‘new light’ for the holiday season is still not recommendable in my opinion, this forum is used by developers who are requiring feedback about their creations, make certain bug reports found on the Roblox website, and to see some new updates for both the website and studio’s features in the #updates category, and is not technically used for holidays.
Adding decorations around the forum is a little bit distracting in my opinion, and I agree with @sjr04’s statement in his post.
It may be unnecessary, but at least it updates the forum theme’s rather than seeing the same old theme. It can just be a personal choice rather than it being forced.
It just makes the forum a lot more lively. As mentioned earlier, someone could voluntarily do it rather than DET doing it and all DET would have to do is Judy import it. It could just be minor, such as a logo change.
then it would be too small of a change for anyone to notice therefore making it somewhat pointless. this would be better suited for the main website, especially considering young kids love holiday themes
This would be a great feature if you were able to turn it off, as by looking at the replies I can see that a lot of people would not like it. I like it though!
Imagine all of the Christmas colors, around the website, which has a very interesting appearance which we make it distracting for DevForum users to focus. Fun fact, Christmas decorations on site’s use is to make the site more appealing to look at, which is distractive from the main focus of the use of the site.
Also, by common sense, this is a DevForum, not a social media site, so… basically you don’t need Christmas Decorations around the website as developers only use this for…
Fun fact, also, this is not beneficial, notice how the forum’s design is just plain? It’s because it’s avoiding distractions, like for instance adding a Christmas decoration on the website, is seriously distracting,
Lastly about this
A ‘logo change’ would be a bit strange, if the logo was changed with Christmas decorations, some users who would think that’s part of the logo would mistake it for the DevForum’s logo.
It’s also non-beneficial for Developer Engagement Team, to also waste their time on things like this honestly, as @sjr04 said, it’s applicable for the main site, as kids use it. Here in the Developer Forum most are 13+, who tend to focus about development, and not about other things, and development is only the real reason why the Developer Forum existed.
If it was toggleable how would it be distracting? You still have the choice. And it’s not like the decorations is the main cause of distraction. If you have set your mind to a task, well I’m afraid I can’t see anyone getting distracted for that.
Will you please read my posts? Even though, it can be toggled, I’ve got one thing to say, is it necessary? Is it useful? Should Developer Relations waste their time on this? I’ll have to say this request isn’t very useful and please read the reasons why it’s distracting, even if you’re focused on a task and get easily distracted that’s still in the point.
Lastly, I would want to point-out that we, as DevForum users, should only make posts here in the #forum-feedback category, to report about forum issues, or if we would want to make a request that’s beneficial for the Developer Forum and it’s users. In full, honesty, I just don’t see this as beneficial in any way, and I highly doubt the Developer Relations Team, would focus on requests that are not highly valuable or beneficial for forum usage because in my statement, in an earlier post
Actually, I do kind of like the idea for a Christmas-themed forum, but I just don’t see this as something beneficial which is why it’s not recommendable, and I’ve stated some reasons why it’s also not beneficial, but I’ll gladly state it again in this post.
Developer Relations would not waste their time answering non-beneficial requests, especially if it’s not even helping out in forum usage
I’ve stated, Christmas Decorations around the Developer Forum, is distracting, especially to people who get easily distracted because of the decorations. If you can toggle those, what’s the point of make them? I presume everyone using the forum is a developer of a minimum of 13 of age, and this is only recommendable for the main site as kids use it
Again may I state this is a Developer Forum, not a public forum for children to use, and the main goal of the Developer Forum, is to give developers a forum to post their creations, to ask for feedback or any improvements, to stay up to date, with announcements for Studio or website improvements via the #updates category, and to report bugs.
This forum, is not a public or social media type of forum, and as I’ve stated in my earlier post, the Developer Forum’s main goal is for development and is not focused on having fancy decorations or useless discussions not based on development, also it’s in the name Developer Forum not the Roblox Forum
This doesn’t sound like too bad of an idea in my opinion - the only downside I can see’s a different country’s belief on the holiday(s). I can agree it’s not too appropriate for a developer’s forum as well.
