Hi, so for those who remember back in the old days of Roblox, each holiday or season there would have their respective theme. Of course, many of you know that it’s discontinued, however, why not bring that over here? Either make it a forced theme or an option during a period of time (Or make a theme that changes). I think it’d be a great edition and make the devforum update over time.
Counterarguments
I know I’ll receive messages stating that “the devforum is for development, what’s the point?” It’s just to give the devforum some new light, let it update during a new season/holiday. It’s only a feature, not a game-breaking-change.
Technically it’s just a matter of porting over a theme temporarily? For instance the Vincent theme is not built into Discourse but devrel brought it in. I still disagree with the request though; it would be too distracting.
That would be incredibly bothersome to me, being quite a pain. Even if it isn’t forced, it’s just not really that necessary, there are better things to focus on in the forum.
Not only would this be bothersome, but its quite unprofessional for a development-related environment, which often uses simple themes. Vicent and the new themes are stretching it, but the seasonal appearance is over-the-top. This would fit better with an application dedicated for casual purposes and general audiences, like the main website itself.
IDK, being a bit more integrated into the Forum now, I think themes are one of the least of my worries now (excluding when I have to switch to dark mode when my eyes are tortured). Plus, there are more important matters at hand like reinstating PA or a similar system, sorting out the garbage in some categories, handling the inappropriate use of the Forum, etc, so this would also be a low priority for the DET.
But, from the image you provided showing that you can create your own themes (not sure if it’s Discourse-only or not, I totally didn’t know that before), it seems as if you can create your own theme if you want and post it for others to use as well. Though, I do doubt it working in the DevForum.
Instead of just forcing changes of themes onto the forum, it would be an option(dynamic theme) that is disabled by default. However, it seems to be beneficial for certain developers in terms of what field of work, such as graphics. I think the addition requires some plugin magic on Discourse though.
