Dialog bubbles do not render above NPCs while using LegacyChatService in Play Solo

  1. Create a part/NPC
  2. Put a Dialog instance in the part/NPC
  3. Put a DialogChoice instance inside the Dialog instance
  4. Ensure your TextChatService is using the LegacyChatService version
  5. Enter Play Solo
  6. Click the Dialog bubble above your part/NPC; observe dialog bubbles do not appear
  7. Click the DialogChoice response; observe dialog bubbles do not appear

Play Solo

In-App

Expected behavior
Same as in Team Test and the Roblox App, the dialog bubble should render above the NPC and players in Play Solo mode.

Just got a report from a user on either Xbox or PS4 that they can no longer see text bubbles above NPCs. FWIW, I cannot reproduce anything they’re describing on a Windows desktop.

Not entirely sure if they mean the same bug as this, but I’m worried that this bug may no longer be limited to Studio.

Likely affiliated:

Posts describes the lack of NPC bubbles when experiences utilise the TextChatService, revamped bubble system frameowrk on console. Perhaps it’s a seperate bug. Upon test, Flood Escape still has the NPC bubble.

Hi, I’ve attempted to reproduce this on my own but failed to. It’s possible that this may have been addressed already. Can you confirm if this is working for you now?

Hello! Thank you for your report. I was unable to reproduce this bug and it’s possible it was fixed with the migration to TextChatService. The affiliated dialog bug on consoles is also no longer reproducible. Please let us know if you have any further issues.
