Dragger QoL Improvements [Beta]

Thank you for the response! What would I need to change to swap the functionalities of Shift and Alt?

well i am not used to it and i wont ever do, so can i find a way to disable movement lines?

also uhh can you make it so i can disable the awful shortcuts because i have an habit on resting my hand on key buttons or accidentally pressing something without knowledge

There’s a weird bug where I have this feature disabled yet it always uses the new dragger system?

Can this also apply to both scale and rotation tools as well? Often enough I have to juggle my mouse around to get a precise rescale vs being able to punch in the number like the move tool can.

Planning to do this but it’s harder to implement than it was for Move and easier to do once we’re out of the beta and don’t have the code for both the old and new draggers side by side.

After using it for a bit, I really like this QoL update! Though, I do kind of wish that using CTRL + Number Keys would still work to switch. I know it’s simpler to just press the number keys but I’ve gotten use to the CTRL + Number Keys hotkeys and now if I press them by force of habit, nothing will happen which is kind of annoying.

Other than that, the soft snapping is such a big help when it comes to building.

You can rebind these if you’d prefer to keep using Ctrl: Change the shortcut in File → Advanced → Customize shortcuts…

This got turned on automatically for me and it made me sad so now I have turned it off.

I don’t like the white lines being everywhere when I hover over things. Please do not keep that or at least let me turn it off.

You can already turn it off with “Show Hover Ruler” in the settings.

This is simply not very useable for my workflow even if you disregard the keybinds that are essentially muscle memory being changed. I rely on being able to see all draggers in the move tool at all times when moving a part, now they disappear during movement.

You’re the only one I’ve heard not liking this change out of a lot of feedback so it’s unlikely that we will add an option for that, be prepared to work with them that way.

Could you elaborate on what you’re getting out of the additional handles / what gets harder?

Mainly trying to roughly align an object without having to use the align tool (which sometimes moves both the part being aligned and the one it is being aligned too). I also use it for things such as morphs to align around a specific point of an object that I can’t use the align tool for (such as 1/3 of something).

this is so bad i don’t even know where to begin.

building has been made literally impossible in a stud by stud manner. the increment doesn’t even work anymore and objects are literally clipping in and out of each other, regardless of the way i drag them.

objects dragged against flat surfaces are being spaced out, clipped through, or completely away from the desired drag point.

this is utter garbage.

you are literally destroying a core aspect of studio with this.

How do i manually input a number while using the scale tool, I can’t seem to press on the input box that appears?

Did studio automatically turn on all of these improvements today? I think it’s too complicated and should be an option instead of being available to all developers

I don’t know how to say this professionally, but I’ll try, I’m a game dev who uses the drag tool quite often with building houses for a project I have been working on 2 years. in those 2 years I have learned to negate a faulty part of ROBLOX’s engine called offsets (basically when using the drag tool little bit from spawn causing the position to be imprecise) well I have been forced into using this update and I say this with no offensive intent, I’m not a fan of it, the imprecisions of offsets have come back as this front end of the foyer shows

there is a slight offset in the parts, and this is everywhere, wedges even have a pain snapping to ends of parts it has to really be grabbed by the corner and dragged to the corner of that part
(which was never a problem I had to deal with the past 2-3 years I have been working on the platform and like I have previously mentioned, I had found tricks to get more precise positioning to prevent offsets from occurring)

probably the only negative review of this, I’m just annoyed that I’m forced to use this especially when I’m just starting to work on the houses which is probably going to be in the higher counts of builds, which means more chances to have offsets which is now not every now and then, but its every house with this dragger.

I would suggest reworking this to be more precise or give us the option to use the original drag tool.

hoping an admin, or developer at ROBLOX can see this because I think it could be the best update if just a little more calculations were added to negate the faulty imprecision.

Greetings,

Is it possible to disable this feature? when I disable this in studio it’s still enabled.

Sincerely,

I’m having that exact issue; pretty sure it’s being forced / rolled out at this point (when it shouldn’t at this stage it’s not even close to as precise the old one was)

if you want to have where it snaps like the original turn off snapping

update : ive given up trying to use this, i literally cant build anymore because of this forced roll out.
