Not sure what criteria you’re using, but none of our accounts that have contributed to billions of visits over the past decade got verified. I own games with over 100M visits but didn’t get verified. I’m guessing because the groups aren’t public?
Our LLC uses a holding account, which cannot ID verify, since it is not a person.
This feature has caused a lot of confusion amongst users who don’t know what it means and think it’s an admin badge, in-game privilege, or a creator badge. People with UGC access who work for us have to test on alts to avoid being spammed in the chat when playtesting.
Their name is highlighted in the chat, on the leaderboard, in a bold color. Experience creators don’t get this. Are there plans to reduce this confusion? (Still unsure what being verified on a platform where you can’t say your real name means)
I think this update is excellent for the members of developer community and the community overall, hopefully this goes as fine as it was actually planned.
(I really doubt there will be any significant change regarding the process of giving these badges out to majority of the experience and/or community contributors)
Is this a surprise though? ROBLOX has a track record of keeping requirements for elusive programs like these particularly vague, likely in order to prevent abuse. I do think more comprehensive guidelines would be beneficial for something like this, however.
Definately not surprising for what I have come to expect from Roblox. As you mentioned, more specific, comprehensive guidelines would be beneficial, though.
I’m pretty sure (not positive) that you can change your display name without losing the badge. However, I have heard accounts of people losing the badge when changing usernames, so I would be careful.
Hey all, we appreciate the quick feedback! I wanted to provide some more context to answer some of your questions:
Because a core component of this program is based on notability on the platform, we don’t expect to see a majority of creators become eligible to receive the badge. We expect to see less than 1% of active creators get Verified under the new criteria. Yes, that may seem small, just keep in mind we’ve got millions of creators on Roblox every day!
We are monitoring the eligibility criteria and slowly expanding it, but it’s a careful balance. Our end-goal is to capture enough notable community members to hit that “just right” feeling without overdoing it—we want the badge to feel meaningful when you see it on an experience, group, or creator.
While I can’t share the exact criteria, let me see if I can expand on the principles behind notability a bit more. Notability for an experience creator means they own a top experience or are a key contributor, and that they also have a high level of engagement within the Roblox community. There may be cases where a creator has played a major part in the development of an experience (such as a sound designer who was contracted to create audio for a top experience) but is not identified as a key contributor on the platform or does not meet our community engagement threshold.
We tested many criteria internally and what we landed on captures over 90% of the creators that we were hoping to see get Verified in this wave. We will continue to listen to your feedback and are still exploring options that will get us that last 10%.
Apologies, I realize the original post may have been unclear. Owners of verified groups will not automatically receive for the badge; we will still evaluate whether they have a high platform following and are a key contributor to a top experience (based on hours of engagement).
Hello, was wondering if our group or developers will be getting verified. We have a game with 2B+ visits (King Legacy), the owner was verified but the group and other developers were not. Thanks.
Be nice if they releases the criteria, seems like it’s excluding a lot of people. I have 100m+ visited game and another that makes a substantial amount to devex, and entered the toys program at one point but seems like not good enough.
Hope this won’t benefit these verified devs with being on top of the game sort making it harder for smaller devs to get known.
Been to a couple RDCs in person usually first few invite waves but somehow didn’t get the badge
