you got ratioed pretty hard there

anyways, I think this is a great update and it is definitely a good stepping stone to allowing more mature experiences in the near future

Parents deserve all the tools they need to make it easier to moderate their children. You don’t want a 5 year old to be playing Halo or something.

You may be unaware of the bad rep that the media is picking up about roblox developing a issue with predators and stuff. Roblox needs to protect them self’s from this vary bad rep before it becomes a larger problem, or it could be a vary big negative impact on both there business and there conscience. You may be smart enough to not fall for peoples tricks online, but other kids may not know any better, unfortunately sacrifices must be made to protect the vulnerable players. I believe they are doing a better approach then what some other online companies have done.

I also hope this will mean more freedom to speak for older players, been filtered for so many unnecessary things…

Uhh, I don’t think anyone would ever make something called that? And if so, it would still be only available to people 18+. 18+ content will always exist on Roblox, due to the vast amount of people who are always trying to bypass the censor, so the most we can do is give them a spot that anyone under 18 can’t reach. (For anyone replying with “but they can fake their age!” that’s the parent’s responsibility, not Roblox’s)

Aren’t accounts only restricted from 9+/13+ experiences if parental controls are on though?

They said they would be loosening the filter on 13+ users, though the full scale of it isn’t known. All that’s known is that “lmao” and “I love you” won’t be censored any more, though the second one might be a bit concerning on the context of Roblox.

From what I’ve seen, accounts under 9 or 13 are forced to have the settings for higher age ratings disabled, however I could be wrong.

That is actually vary true. know one can go after roblox because the player lied.

It’s literally impossible for them to protect you once malware is on your machine.

I think this age recommendation is a really good feature that has been added to Roblox. Because there are a lot of games that younger players should not play. But now developers can just put their games on 13+ and won’t allow younger players to play them. I’m glad that this feature is out and will help a lot of younger people not to play some games that will hurt their feelings in real life.

To clarify, nothing ToS based has changed, and the only things you can age rate your games for is violence and gore, I doubt Roblox would take action on those overestimating their age rating but you probably shouldn’t be using this feature for anything but violence or gore.

I don’t think anyone mentioned Windows Defender or McAfee? It isn’t Roblox’s responsibility to protect you from malware. You need to either resist the urge to click on the suspicious “free robux” link or download a better antivirus. They can’t do anything to stop you from clicking strange links, and there’s genuinely no way to get a virus through Roblox itself.

I was talking about violence. Because there are some games that have a lot of violence in them and it doesn’t have any roleplaying or winning points in them they just shoot and kill each other for no reason. That’s why I think these games should not be for younger players out there. It will change their attitudes to bad attitudes. But I don’t mind older players playing those games it’s their choice what game they want to play.

Even if it doesn’t include blood, what if the player can kill an animal? small children could imitate it or it does not matter?

There could be a category for violence as real or fantasy, since it is not the same to kill an animal or a person as an ogre, because the latter does not exist.

Roblox will probably use ID verification for that, like how they used to use it for voice chat.

This could be against the community standards under ‘animal cruelty’

Sorry, I thought you were talking about age-restricting your game ‘just because you can’

Some survival games include it, not at all graphic, but they exist.
And my question is more focused on whether it is real or fantasy violence.

Since Brookhaven contains guns and stuff, will it now be marked 13+?
