Experiences using Marketplace Items - Policy update

Once again Roblox is trying to destroy their platform. The upper management really needs to sit down and cycle out these terrible, out of touch with reality people and run the company with people who understand the value of Roblox and the rights of all parties involved. Or they could just sit down and do nothing, enjoy the millions of dollars flowing every day and it would still be better than actively trying to sabotage everyone.

for various reasons i only make games using items roblox uploads (and technically some older items uploaded by admins.) if this includes roblox items, then roblox would be unusable for me.

im not using roblox at all anymore until i see confirmation this wont happen and isnt just paused.

This really stopped it its tracks when they said “Nah Nevermind” didn’t it.

I think that’s a good sign…

They never truly said that, only “We’ll do it later when no one cares anymore to avoid our rock-bottom PR breaking bedrock”

It’s only a matter of time before they do that, or until the overwhelming displeasure for this update finally hits home for Roblox.

Well, I’ve planned out a change that I’m going to make to my “experience”, just knowing they’re going to try forcing this on all of us one day.

Look at what you’ve done, Roblox. Before, I had four dummies standing on my baseplate, showing players what each character size (AKA age) looks like…

…but now, I’m replacing them with this basic window. It literally does the same thing, but it’s less obvious what avatars will look like at each size now.

The dummies will still be used for testing NPCs (eventually) and creating age-specific animations and poses, but I still don’t like how this update could affect simple dummies/stationary NPCs that just stand there, menacingly (Patrick, why did you have to say that?).

Well, at least Roblox’s strange logic (not blaming the staff members that are questioning these changes as much as us, just whatever management thought up these destructive changes) gave me a reason to use my OOP windows in a way that even players can try out.

This is going to be the one thread which can never stop getting negative feedback until Roblox has already become irrelevant and everyone parted ways. The “Wait until people cool down and then we release the update” strategy is not going to work, and even if it did, people will immediately catch onto Roblox’s shenanigans and the forums will most likely explode.

So @Roblox, where’s that update you were telling us about? It’s been two weeks by now, we deserve answers.

I wouldn’t really expect Roblox to give us a response anytime soon. You know how they are after dropping a tumultous update no one likes. Once they see negative feedback, they’ll update once or twice before inevitably leaving us out to dry. Hopefully with enough complaining and protesting, we can actually get Roblox to reverse their decision!

if i remember correctly, natural disaster survival was the first game i ever played (that or adopt me, it was 2018, i dont remember for sure)

if natural disaster survival goes down i will literally go ballistic, its a classic and beloved game that has been around since the golden days of Old Roblox, and stood stiff and strong as titanium through everything that roblox goes through

Explain why your default models (Such as default dummy) utilise the smile face tho.
Practice what you preach, reverse this. Simple.

Whilst you’re at it please fire the person coming up with all these new outrageous policies. You’re not creating fairness or opportunities, you’re taking freedom and creativity.

Genuinely Roblox and it’s new, stupid, policies is exactly why I’ve and many others have hopped into unity etc.

There’s also that new “The Sandbox” game similar to Roblox, need to be careful otherwise someone might take your niche.

I’ve seen other developers i.e. Deepwoken say this has been reversed, is that true?

We haven’t gotten a response from Roblox yet about the cancellation of this update, so the situation is unclear.

calling stolen anime faces and models ripped from twitter “Intellectual Property” is hilarious

how will this affect half of games having a top donator board with someones avatar dancing WHO IS WEARING UGC CLOTHING. does it have to prompt everyone in the game to buy the top donator’s pink jacket?

this is just like when valve stopped servers from using skin changers in csgo

Unknown as of now. I don’t think this is going to be cancelled.

delayed, not canceled or reversed

I have a feeling we’ll know more by mid-November around the time of the Investor’s Day (Nov. 15th). I don’t think it will be cancelled. From the previous earnings call, this is part of a process that will continue over the next two quarters eventually widening to incorporate all assets on the platform (to make it more like a real-world marketplace, as they put it). I’ve seen that kind of thing plenty on other platforms, but for the life of me I just can’t picture what that will be like here. Don’t really want to.

It looks like we’re about to enter a dark phase in ROBLOX, and it doesn’t look like we’ll be getting out of it. If ROBLOX does go through with this I sincerely hope that everyone leaves and this company dies the death that it deserves. This platform is capable of amazing things but it goes to waste because of a bunch of greedy and out of touch fossils who run the company. Developers deserve better. Players deserve better. This platform deserves better.
